I have a friend who has a 50m yacht and I think she told me it cost her $500k to transport. Not sure if that was one way or return or even if I remembered it correctly, but was quite significant

Hate to tell you but you're wrong about the "loading" process. Those keel blocks are in place before the yachts ever come on. They're way too heavy for divers to put in place.

Can’t cross an ocean, has to stay within 150nm of a safe port, no sat WiFi… that’s not a ‘super yacht’, it’s a glorified day boat.
A recent estimate I was given for a 88" yacht (Bahamas –> Nederlands) was approximately $130,000 USD. This was a quick estimate based on size, gross tonnage, and season. Your results may vary. Depending on your intentions, this expenditure could be chalked up as a business expense, and in any event, is considerably less than a week's charter income. Not to mention avoiding gales of force 7, as our captain experienced on this particular voyage. The Atlantic can be quite nasty in any season, boy howdy.

I got a recent quote to transport my 82' yacht from Fort Lauderdale to Genoa. A bit pricey.. $88K.

Does the captain of the individual yachts have to stay onboard during this process of crossing the ocean, or are they allowed this time between charter seasons as holiday?
Would miles spent at sea this way count towards ratings for crew? It seems that the experience and the ability to say that you made the crossing on your own power would be the only possible benefits.
