interesting, no kicker.
Great review and awesome footage. Thnx, Toby!!
Heels a lot. Cabin is relatively small. Too expensive.
Hi Toby,
After watching the video I do understand that you had lots of fun sailing this ‘cabin dinghy’. Beautiful the way she went planing in the flat sees! Also the build quality looked well enough i.e. not too basic.
Cheers
Harry
Well, I guess with a full cruising loadout you will not get on plane at 11 knot true wind speed. But amazing concept nonetheless.
It is an afternoon club racer, and not an overmight so-called "crusing boat" unless you want to invite your family and freinds and never see them again. Yachts are over-priced now. Nice try, but yhis is cheaper in too many ways
How upwind performance
I own a 27 and if I could i would switch to a 30, why? is as fast as the 27 but if you load it with cruising stuff (food, sun tent, drinks, paddle board, snorkels, etc) you still can do coastal cruising for a week with a family of four pretty well. Load and Offload and you have two boats in one. The 27 can not do that. I think is a great product at a very good price. I wonder if the 30 won't hinder 36s sales tough. Well done Seascape!!!!!
Your enthusiasm for this boat really comes through in this video. Looks a brilliant boat. You obviously had a lot of fun!
Great review Toby, certainly looks a fun boat. But up there with the Pogo 30 do you think? which would you rather have…?
Can't wait until I get my First 36 SE next spring. That will a fully grown up 30 🙂 Just with a bit more power.
water vapor!! clean!!
As a solo day sailer, a non-starter. And for 100k you get a pretty good one secondhand. The filming revealed that they've used the cheapest methods and materials possible, so no quality wow feeling. But I'm sure it's fun to sail for teens with some money from their parents.
Just what I wanted! ❤
We had a First 30 in the 80's and it was a wonderful boat, nothing like the new First 30 you showed here.
It is not a cruising boat. It is a coastal day racer, with somewhere to doss down at night
Perfect boat to kick many butts
And when the weather turns rough is it still going to be fun?
Very happy with my First 305. I would like to see a comparison between this new First 30, and the Pogo 30.
‘Not being replaced with the younger generation” younger generations don’t have money and are struggling to find housing. Sailing culture is dying because it’s expensive and people can barely afford their needs.
Just perfect, so exciting.
Where’s the dodger? First wave over the bow and you’ll be regretting your choice.
“A new era of the planing cruiser”? Really? The Pogo 30 came out more than 10 years ago! Where have you been?
Thanks for the tremendous review Toby, I too have been looking forward to this one. What an incredible performance by Beneteau/SeaScape to build and sell this. The price, the weight, the handling, the creature comforts and the design all coming together to deliver exceptional value for money is something rarely seen in any consumer industry these days. Maybe it reminds me of the new Renault 5 a little in that sense.
This is NOT for cruising. Period.
The smile at 6:27 says it all!
Orca will sink it in under a min
Empty boat, 4-5 Bft., flat water going 110-120 to the wind, sunny, big gen up … planing ahead. Sounds exactly like the conditions I experience 98% of the time when cruising. Even the worst IOR design or old, heavy long keelers will put a smile in sailors face in those conditions. Maybe there could be a little bit of a reality check in the next videos?
How waves affect planing ???
