Do the numbers on the markers have anything to do with mile marker? Are they ascending going south? Hampton Roads (Portsmouth) is mile marker 0 if I’m not mistaken.

Having the ability to get under ANY bridge, at least in my area, the Tampa Bay area, is why I don't have a T-Top 😊. I can collapse my Bimini, when I use it (rarely). I'm a Pinellas County resident and absolutely LOVE the intercostal 🥰 Great fishing 🎣 😀

what about direction? If you are traveling and the markers are far apart, how do you know which direction to look to find the next marker?

That first bridge clearance would have been 11ft, not 9. The 10 mark was there, and it was the line BELOW the 10 mark. As the distance between the water level and the bridge increases, a lower line will show, so if each line is a foot, that is 11ft.
