  1. It was awesome seeing the Hwy 11 draw bridge in action. Thank you for that. Despite what some politicians have said, we did build that. I've got a copy of the original 1927 design drawings that I used to draw the new bascule girders. I will send the link of this video to the shop manager of the steel fab shop that I did the drawings for so he can show the shop guys. I'm, sure they will enjoy seeing the fruits of their labor as much as I do.

I used to sail my 22' Chrysler thru that bridge & the Rigolets bridge from Southshore Harbor to Pass Christian every Easter. One year I called the Rigolets swing bridge and asked to open for me and the lady operator ask me when I'd be arriving. I told her that I was already there. She walked out of her shack, looked around and walked back in. She said that she couldn't see me so I told her to walk back out and look down. When she saw me she said, "are you going into the Gulf in that little boat?"

  2. I've been following since the drawings and the mock up, and to now see the Seeker "On the way" makes this journey incredible!

Also, where there's dolphins, there are no sharks.

  3. Hi Doug, that plug on that globe is for a water sensor. If water reaches that level a circuit gets closed and you get a signal.

  4. The "Deep Fried Food" is LuLu's, Lucy Buffet (Jimmy Buffet's sister) owns it. It's a tourist trap, was much better before she moved it to Gulf Shores.

  5. You son of a bitch!!!! You did it! I love you Doug! What an inspiration!!!! I've enjoyed watching this journey along with you for years, and look forward to what's to come! Keep it coming, you're an inspiration to us all.

  6. Once you get into open water, it would be nice to see you put your sails up & see what she can really do. With wind only & with combo power. Adding a kite sail would be a nice addition, especially for long water crossings. They can reach up & catch the faster winds when it isn't blowing much at the surface.

  7. I’ve been watching SV Seeker casually for a while now, just whenever it popped up on my feed. You seem to be living your dream now. Congratulations!

  8. Kind of lost touch with this project, but soon as I saw "Gulf" I had to check it out. Can't wait to see the masts up and actually sailing.

  9. There's a lot of things I could say about this video and everything you've accomplished so far but I think I'll keep it short and sweet.
Thank you for sharing all of it with us.
Congratulations you've proven that with grit, determination, a little knowledge or the willingness to learn, hard work and a dream anything is possible…
Fair winds, following seas, safe travels and God Bless…

  10. You guys made it to salt water, freakin awesome, congrats to everybody, enjoy some Blue Claw crabs and shrimp, you guys earned it.
