Well they can say that everything was done to the best of their abilities but when your abilities happened to be no greater than a 10 year old that's not saying much.😂
Insurance job?
No thanks we have South Florida and the infamous Florida man, which is actually safer😂.
So these dive boats dive, is that not to be expected?
A live aboard/ die aboard vacation package deal!
These boats actually dive.
Thanks for the warning!
We started a liveaboard dive boat business in Scotland in 1995. We operated safely for a number of years running trips along the entire west coast, to St Kilda, Norway and Iceland. Our vessels were all strictly coded by the UKMCA, it wasn't cheap. What appalled me then and still does was the dive press continually advertsing Red Sea liveaboards. Their headline costs relative to what we offered were dramatically less, I would point out to our customers that they were risking their lives on uncoded vessels that were inherently unsafe. Eventually we realized that the market in the UK for diving was untenable and moved into the cruise sector. I view the dive press as complicit as the operators for the continuing scandal of Red Sea liveaboard safety. I speak as also as an engineer and marine surveyor, these vessels are death traps
lol 😂 they look good though I might get one and rock up in Monaco 🇲🇨 powered by 10 Seagull outboards!
This what happen when you trust an Egyptian operator.
Just Useless!
Lithium batteries being charged overnight with no one on fire watch? I guess they didn’t learn from the Conception.
They are not wrong re “the best of their abilities”.
Wood? WTF??
I did a few dive boat trips in the Red Sea, even the most recently “ refurbished “ boats were atrocious 🇬🇧
So let's guess.
It's the end of the tourist season & the boat was over insured & a just in case you got hurt or died insurance was also taken out.
What's the bet NO STAFF was hurt.
incident?
gee its a mystery that a 90ft tall boat with a 10ft draft capsized, also overloaded with weight up high by looking at the interior pictures of heave wooden furniture and hardwood floors
It's great that DIVE Magazine are not warning divers, funnily enough as as a big part of their ad revenue is from these liveaboards.
The front fell off.
Reminds me of moving a client into the "Endowment Lands" in Canada at the University of BC. Major houses worth tens of millions, BUT this hosue was painted plywood (uninsulated) from the outside looked acceptable, but ou could feel the dampness. Something was very wrong. A week later my client phones me and they were OUT. Her husbands friend was from Egypt. This boat reminds me of that grift.
These days, if it doesn't rust don't trust it on the sea, especially not in places prone to overload and ignore all known standards.
I’m more fascinated that these boats are wood construction. I get the superstructure, but wood hulls, I want to see them being built in shipyard.
Egyptian dive boats. The gift that keeps on giving.
I'm shocked to read that Arabs are inept slime balls.
Then they should know that damn reef is there. How stupid are the people over there?
I will never understand why people still go on these trips.
How much were they insured for?……..
That's a lot of fails!
Sounds like organised insurance fraud.
wonder who is the insurer
Going on any kind of seagoing vessels in places like Egypt and other places in the region and in the Third World is simply a risky move.
The standards are very low.
Not for boats, but for most forms of transport
I'd avoid Egypt full stop….the diving in the red sea is boring anyway. Its like a swimming pool with a view. Try the Irish or North sea, Scapa flow or the Sound of Mull. UK Diving is always exciting if a bit more taxing on the skills than many other places around the world!
We've told you a million times, don't go to Egypt! If you want to meet your demise, then go there. There are dozens of other countries with tourism, beaches, and beautiful places.
Thank you super yacht news. Remember when you go overseas these vessels do not have same inspections or sea worthiness or equipment or trained staff …
When Egyptian planes crash they do the same thing. They blame it on anything other than the airline or pilots. Its crazy.
Please investigate diving out of Dahab, local/Bedouin/dive specialist run. No liveaboard boats Hidden gem! Sea Dancer dive centre is my personal favorite. They will recommend accommodation – i usually get an air b n b flat next to the sea. It's an hour's taxi drive north of Sharm, the accommodation will sort you a taxi MUCH cheaper!
I would also highly recommend Dahab for women, so much safer. A proper community – all the local businesses crowd funded a gorgeous state of the art barometric chamber facility – my dive buddy had a small issue and the Dive Centre drove us over. Can't remember what they charged us, but it was so little that we made an additional donation!
Excellent community, Egyptians are awesome when they aren't in poverty and being exploited by corporates..
Kinda like Indonesia
I can see why there are so many reefs in the red sea…
Just like titanic/titan. They go to see the reef and then become the reef…
The worst thing is that they are experts on all the local shark varieties as they tread water in the darkness awaiting resue. That's why when I visited Egypt I stuck to the Pyramids only! I'd rather get bucked-off a camel than eaten by a hammer-head shark. In fact as a confirmed land-lover I'm not sure why I subscribe to this channel. (OK cos it's brilliant!)
Entering a complex technical vessel run by you-know-who is like pranking a USian cop: simply suicide.
Sadly a endless list of people who will not do research what they're going on.
