  1. Tip- your boat's aluminum rivets seem to have hi failure rate with ageing. You can get them in stainless steel for a better seaworthy longevity and overall strength is my advice to you.

  2. Very enjoyable video. It is interesting to see that early in your boat venture you had a lot of trouble with your dinghy motor but have not had any for a long time. Do you edit out dinghy motor issues? From what you have been saying in this video it sounds like some really needs a sailing partner, how about a partner with long blonde hair. 🙂

  3. When we were in Frankfort Rhein
Main, West Germany, we went to Taco Bell. I was pregnant with our youngest boy and I so craved Mexican food.

  4. I enjoyed your previous video showing weather routing and I wondered if you have looked at Savvy Navvy? I am just beginning to look at it and it appears to combine weather and chart plotting as well as other nice features (user friendly). They have a free version for trial, maybe if you have time you can provide a quick assessment.

  5. Wow to eat McDonalds in Fort de France, Martinique! Now that’s a treat! Not many people ca say that I single handed sailed there and had a Big Mac, Fries and a Coke! Go Big Huub, Enjoy! 🏁👍🍺

  9. Once again your video has put a smile on my face. Loved your 4 legged visitor. I’m not sure which switch I would have to flip first. Turbo Boost or Do Not Touch! I have anchored in NYC, near the Statue of Liberty. On the 4th of July! Scared to death that some drunk sailors would run into me. The fireworks were fantastic! Thanks again for sharing, you made my day better. I hope to see you in person one day 😊

  10. Huub, I love that you're able to be so honest with us. I'm sorry you have to navigate alone, but you always seem up for the challenge. Finally, let me say – I wholeheartedly agree … Christmas lights and an ejector seat are must haves!! Thank you for always making me smile. ⛵️

  11. Hilarious words … "One of the things I love most about my Dingy. – It'll probably be the last dingy at the dingy dock to get stolen!" That printed on t-shirts would make a fortune. I know I'd buy one!!

  12. Nice one Huub… Hope you get some Sailing companion Soon it's nice to be able to Share ..😍 Stay Free and Safe Travels 👍 🇨🇮

  13. I laughed so hard when you said your dinghy will be the last to be stolen. I was just about to comment that it looks like your dinghy is held together by a wing and a prayer. But in all seriousness, dinghy theft is a concern. I just bought a new Highfield CL290 and it should be arriving in Panama this week, having that new dinghy makes me nervous!

  14. You’ve changed a lot this year, you’re much more at home in the water and on your boat. You’re doing everything naturally now, without any problems or doubts. It’s been fun to watch because I think everyone knew it was coming. You seem “happy” now and you also know so many more people!!

  15. Ha Huub, I am really proud to say the last time I had a Maccas was way back in 2002 in Milan., and I only had it as I was desperate to find something to eat very late at night. Thankfully, I have never stepped foot in the place again, and won’t 😂

I must say, your boat is starting to look very tired and some TLC might be a nice idea, ditto getting an anchor winch as hauling up every time you are on the hook and wanting to move on seems so tiring.

Anyway, it’s pretty clear you are way more confident in solo sailing when you started off and that’s something to be really happy about. I get the loneliness thing though.

  16. Hi Huub and greetings again from Normandy. I have been following your adventures since you were working on the cabin in Spain which I LOVED so much and I almost think that I was more disappointed than you were when you had to abandon it after so much really hard work. Do you have any news of that? Has it just been left to disintegrate ? I hope one day you can go back and give a follow-up story. Anyway although I am not particularly interested in sailing, I've followed you from Spain and have watched all your videos since. I must say I have experienced a lot of stress watching you throughout the past year. I would never have had the determination that you have had in fixing up your boat and getting it seaworthy.
You speak of this past year as having been difficult and I totally agree but I think you would never have learned all that you have if you had been able to go immediately with the wind and flow of other boats. You have had to resolve some pretty difficult situations alone. I am personally very proud of you, at least I was until McDonald's ! Sorry, just kidding…..mostly anyway. Here in France I remember the first one on the Champs Elysée and actually thinking I should have done that but I was not rich and couldn't have done anything of that magnitude and also I'm glad I am not responsible for the changes in culture here since the beginning of fast food.
I'm wondering now what you will be filming since most of the past year has been fixing problems. I hope you can totally enjoy this new beginning of more comfortable sailing and more socializing. I hope you will do more videos as you have done a few times introducing people you meet and getting a bit of their stories on tape. I find that very interesting.
    Until next time, Bon Vent!!
    Paul
