  1. I think we need to look at this from the orcas point of view….when they find seals on ice chunks they work to knock the seal off the ice then eat it. Is it more likely that’s what they were doing instead of playing? Trying to knock the people off the boat to eat them? It should at least be considered since it does fit as their behavior.

  2. Orca Harassment

In many countries, it is illegal to “harass” orca (and other marine mammals). However, this doesn’t stop irresponsible behavior around the animals, with some people unsafely maneuvering boats and other watercraft or swimming too close. This disrupts orca from carrying out their normal behavior, including feeding. It increases an orca’s risk of physical injury from boat propellers and other human contacts.

A boat strike was likely the cause of death for an orca found dead with blunt force trauma in Canada in 2016.

  3. This was inevitable. There have been warnings about this group of Orcas attacking boats. They warned small boats not to go out in these areas. They have been deliberately trying to sink boats for reasons unknown.
They were very lucky as the Orcas could have attacked the lifeboat and killed them. It is only a matter of time.

  4. just kill those orcas, if those local groups keep developing that behavior, and transmit that knowledge to the next generation, it will be just a matter of time until some human casualties happens, orcas are very intelligent animals. they will keep improving the technics to attacks sail boats, so at some point in the future, very small vessels will suffer the consequences of a well synchronized attack.

  5. There are tons of videos of this stuff. Sometimes with really small boats. They jump up playing. They're smart but they don't know what a boat actually even is. For all it knows its a big white whale friend to play with.

  6. Orca have worked out where all the fish have gone. Ntjk. They also have long memories and a highly organised culture. We are EXTREMELY lucky that the pods that have started doing this have a fish eating culture. If one of the mammal eating pods gets involved water sports around the world are going to be interesting…

  7. I’ve heard there’s been dozens of reports of Orcas in that area attacking small yachts. Sailors may want to bring stand off weapons, perhaps a shotgun with non lethal rounds would scare off those sea wolves.

  8. The record is 300 incidents of orcas messing with boats is the count!!!I do know the Bay Biscay protected but you know the sea is the least patrolled area on earth. All the overfishing’s probably pissing the orc ass off and someone said they’re not called Whales while they are called killer whales,I guess you can tell by this conversation were into the orcas not into the yachts
