Love y’all ❤
Congrats, your project is moving forward very quickly. One thing came into my mind, a sloop rig on a 50 footer is a mighty thing to handle in high winds and hydraulic/electric gear may fail according to Murphy's law. Did you ever think about a ketch rig and would it be possible to change the design accordingly ?
Congratulation!
Hi Malan and Johan. My wife and I have been subscribers for 3 years. We love your channel. Vera is so cute. I am so excited for your current project. It reminds me of the canoe I built in the same fashion many years ago, but only 16 feet long. Make certain you are well protected against the dust of the western red cedar. As a result of sanding my canoe, and not protecting myself properly, I am still allergic to cedar dust. Oh how I wish I lived closer to you, I would definitely volunteer with the build.
Johan I am happy to see you take making mistakes in stride. As a fellow carpenter I know how difficult it is to get everything right. Mistakes will be made, they will be corrected and then you move on. See you next week.
Way ta go guys. Looking good
don't you really want a wood burning rocket-stove?
Your boat is so big really so big, even for this room you have.
Enjoying your build process. Your barn is too short really, in my opinion. Consider building an extension at fwd end. The existing wooden wall can be replaced by a shed projecting from current wall.
At the stern the masonry wall can be cut and removed.
Then reinforced to allow working room around stern
The process of putting the strong backs on wheels may cause problems of maintaining precise alignment when moving the hull around on the barn floor
Will anxiously await how build proceeds
👍👍 Awesome! Nice work! 🙂
Great work guys, very interesting to see this project and follow your progress. It’s going to be a big boat.
It might work well to have a narrow rolling scaffold on each side with cross planks just above secured on each end to the scaffold units allowing you to move it for and aft at will, with locking casters of course. Tremendous progress, way more aggressive than the cedar strip canoes I've built. I did a solo strip canoes with Honduran Mahogany that turned out beautifully, fun project.
Curious about how much firewood you went through this winter. What does your storage pile look like now?
Inte kan väl februari vara vår?
Jag hoppas ni kilar alla fötter ordentligt så de inte sätter sig med ökad vikt ovanpå. De gröna kilarna är väl bara för finjustering och måste ersättas med plattor eller något?
I think because of the curvature of the Earth, you will not be able to make the measurements perfect. 😁
Before you start planking, don't you need to install the keel the stem and the deck shelf ?
Great progress with Ran 3. I mm (40 thousands of an inch in imperial) would be quite acceptable over that length with many professional boat builders. Looking forward to more progress next week. Cheers Ian
wow. that a great episode! I like Johan's attitude in the whole project – he'll find a way to make it happen. Like my dad always taught me "it's just nuts and bolts" So, you will find a way 🙂 Greetings from New Jersey USA
very smart to take a day off…it is a giant project, and you need to pace yourselves. Wow spring comes early in Sweden, in Montreal Canada we still have a few weeks of snow in front of us, and early April will have crocuses and tulips pushing through
It looks like a boat!
Congratulations Everything Is Beautiful and good construction.good job, best regards, Robert😃😃😃💪👍
🙌
Can’t you just angle the boat diagonally and get more space?
Lovely to see that part of Sweden. where people (Stockholmers) are like flies in the summer. The shape of the building, goes m. at breakneck speed, problems are there to be solved, I have no doubt!!!
Wow! Excellent project work!
I hope you will intersperse the boat building content with content centered on life on a Swedish farm for those of us not too interested in boat building. Congratulations on the progress thus far!
Well done Johan. It’s always good to stop and reflect. It’s a paradigm that true for projects as well for as it is for life. It’s always tempting to focus on the immediate task in hand, driven by a desire to show progress. In the long term, it’s time well spent.
