Monday instead of Sunday. 👍
First 😀👏
What are your hurricane seasons notions for this year? North up the east cost? Great episode. One privilege tip I got was to take all the chain out of the locker and look at the U-bolt mount and check the wood condition next to it… very often the structure that fixture mounts to is rotten and even if in good condition way under reinforced. Shouldn't come into use unless something fails with the bridle or something but that is allegedly a weak point… at least on the 39's… it may or may not apply to yours but we are a 1992 as well so worth a look…. Curious what engines you have; I have the volvo D240's 😛 but at least you are newish. They are stout boats, beating into some rough stuff, mine buried the bridge deck in green water 3x going from Rio to Roatan, blew the dolphin seats into pieces like your are. My wife tried to sleep in the front birth and said she was getting air in the bed 😀 Boat handled it just fine.
Awesome video guys!!! Holy crap for sure on going up the mast!!!! Great job for sure.

Where are your life vests?
7.6 knots of speed in 10knots of wind is good.
Scary … wow you are Brave
Looks like fun
been there done that on the mask climb in the rough like you said you would rather not do it again well done
You can now call yourself a True Rigger !! 🙂
Great speed with wind on beam. Original design test, as I recall reading, was for this cat as a round the world racer back in the day so waterline is just 1.5' shorter than LOA and the nacelle provided the forward strength and rigidity for open ocean conditions.
Wish you had had the time to make even a temporary dodger windscreen (temp center supports with partially transparent plastic sheet attached by any means) given the conditions. Hope a permanent one is planned for reno.
There are battery operated electronic seabands ($125 or so), that do a good job of lessening/eliminating seasickness, but it sounds like everyone gets their sea legs within a day. I've gone up a 65' mast in calm conditions but never under the conditions in this video. Looking forward to next passage video.
That must have been scary as hell up there. Good going!
Enjoyed, your narration puts us on board with you. I imagine that atop the mast, every jolt of the boat is magnified. Good job getting it done. Look forward to the next leg.
Cool sailing – seeing Eric up on the mast(is that right?) had me on the edge of my seat, yikes! Well
done though! See you guys on Part 2! Hope you are all doing well these days! 🤗
Well now you can take a rocky mast climb off your bucket list ; ) Makes for great bragging rights! Now, it's time to ask what we are all thinking. Why didn't your freshen all your running rigging!?
The full blue collar family sailing approach is what turned me into a fan. The good sailing just comes out naturally. Climbing the mast was a special treat. Good thing there were two other men to help.
Good job Skipper. I've done a bit of sailing in my younger years and I love your new boat. I believe you got yourself one hellva good boat their Captain Eric. Good sailing.
Love your videos you guys. Always entertaining and challenging. The ride IS smoother right you said that.
Great video !!
You guys are doing great . keep it up
Go go go.good job
Just crazy! We love the videos. Just discovered "Mile Marker Zero" this weekend at our sailing lessons. Great song!
You guys are awesome!
Glad that you made it up the mast and back down safely. One thing I noticed is that you were sailing the cat like a mono, that really long traveler for the main, well on a cat you use it a lot more to move the mainsail out rather than just let the main sheet out.( the only problem would be how old and baggie your mainsail is) Try it sometime and see if it makes a difference in both your speed and main set . I would be interested in your findings. I used to race a 14' cat but think the settings for a larger boat with the main should be pretty much the same. Thanks for the video.
Well done skipper & crew💚🖖🇳🇿😎
Good crew!
Up the mast at sea isn't fun ever . May be a good idea not to have the boat side onto the waves , run slow down wind is calmer ,
And every time you ever film the wind indicator you are sailing under 30deg mono hulls struggle with that . ? Is it working ?
Another great job on the video! One thing I have been waiting to hear since you got the cat is more comparisons to your monohull. You keep mentioning these great boat speeds but I would like to know how that compares to your old boat in the same wind/wave conditions. Thanks for what you and your wonderful family do!
Poor Zeke😂
Heck, I don't actually like going up the mast when the boat is in calm water on the mooring. I wouldn't want to do it under sail, in waves. But, when something needs to get done, somebody has to do it, right?
😎
I like this channel because they take the good with the bad. And….these are just nice people. Hope they got mosquito nets LOL
