If tested to its limits it might flip over due to physics?
Boat looks fantastic! Nice big forward windows.
Good to see the boat being put through its paces and measuring up so gives great confidence for the future. Nevertheless I really cannot get to grips with the helm position and the compromises it makes to fwd visibility, especially if the boat is in hot climes and needs blinds/screens on the fwd windows so you cannot see through the lounge bridge deck area underway. I am not a fan of fly bridges but Outremer and others have it right with the mid height steering position in my opinion and experience. I also must like my creature comforts as there is nowhere really to sprawl and relax in the cockpit once the sailing is done. Anyway wishing you well as you went through many calculations and investigations to get to this boat.
Did not hear any creaking in the hull, and that is good news.
Tea please!
Aren’t you going to want to do the same thing on your boat? Haha
Love love love this channel! 3:53
My god man. Why was the headsail sheeted on centerline? In the breeze and based on the angles you were sailing it should have been outboard some and eased. This opens up the slot reducing back wind in the mainsail and is likely faster and more efficient sail setup.
My sympathies go out to you for having to endure those rough seas while travelling at such high speeds, but you now know it was worth your sacrifice in comfort to know (first hand) that your vessel can handle those rough seas should you encounter those conditions while far (VERY FAR-?) out to sea! THaT is one bad thing to endure but quite a lot of confidence it will instill in you before setting out to sea while on your own (without the experienced factory crew). i wish all products were tested to such extremes, and do away with the planned obsolesence our made-in-China-Cheap have gotten us used to.
In 15 years I will get one second-hand.
👍
Really enjoyed that. Great job all round, congrats to the builders, skipper, and not least for a great little movie. Many thanks 👏👏👏
Can't wait for the Roaring 40's videos. On the serious side, you really don't know what a piece of kit can do until you've done it. Now you know RR2 will be safe long after you've decided to anchor.

Is your boat full of an average amount of stuff/weight. If not your sailing performance will be different than a normal journey i believe. I.e. pounding waves?…blessings…m
List of things to do from 5:00 pretty much sums up all of my longer crossings 😂
60 to 55 degrees to the wind? Is the angle typical of all catamarans upwind or just this boat?
Should you really be on a boat? Send your wife … its probobly better ..
Groovy video. Boat looks good all the way around.
Hi Nick, great story and we hope you are doing well after the sea trial. My wife and me we want to change from Overlanders to Bluewaters but Claudia is getting seasick pretty quick. We tried different sailings in Baja California Sur means, we were on a Catamaran in the Sea of Cortez and even on a trip from Ensenada to La Paz, Mexico on an Amel 54. On both yachts – monohull and multihull – Claudia was seasick. So, do you have any kind of tipps and hints about getting away the sea sickness? Is the sea sickness going away after a while on a trip because when we were sailing down from Ensenada to La Paz in Mexico we were for 2,5 weeks on the boat and Claudia was taken medicals against the sea sickness. Why we are trying so hard to get some sea legs? We are infected we the sailing virus. 🙂 Best regards, Claudia and Thomas
Poor guy – had been in similar situations, not nice.
You are so incredibly lucky to by on the first test cruise of the boat you're getting with the guys who designed it.
this seems to be a repeat of Part 1
Good to see her put through her paces. Unfortunately for me, I really can not warm to this catamaran, even though I want to. For me I could not bear the helm positions, I would feel utterly disconnected with the ocean, and clear sight to the ocean, and visually it would irritate me not having a good height to see forward and all around. I adore the mid-ships positions and this low position (s) makes me feel very uncomfortable. I would feel like I was driving a tank. I would also worry about the visuals, as it will get damned hot in some climes and I would insist on UV reflective blinds in the saloon. With the helm relying on visuals directly through the saloon windows this would be a problem when the blinds were down. Even not down, I dislike looking through the saloon to sail. It feels very unnatural. Also I am a creature of luxury, and I love to lounge out in the back area of the cat and also enjoy entertaining for at least 6 people around a big table for a meal, with a view. As far as I can make out you have a small table at the very back, and the views forward would just not do it for me. Where are the comfortable long seats to lounge around and sunbath? Or sit and look out at the world behind you? The helm position, the visuals forward for sailing, lack of lounging ability back aft and the lack of a decent table to dine at makes this boat a turn off for me. Sad really because it has a lot of other good features. However, we all want different things in life and this owner loves it and that is all that matters. Good luck and far winds.
Nice to hear Terysa's voice again.
Hope you're feeling better soon. Interesting trip and looking forward to the return trip!
