  1. Why not starting behind starting line?
So crazy confusingly was back over line or not and looking not normal.
Why not a little bigger starting box and 5 minutes behind?

  2. Second starting holy crap. …. likely alinghi starting wrong side over line and then outside buoy crossing starting line 🙈🙉🙊🤷‍♂️ what?
    What rules this regatta having!

  3. Wants:

If the wind drops below a certain speed where boats are expected to be able to foil, and a boat does come off the foik, immediately cancel the race and set a reasonable start time for the next race. Otherwise it's just a random result.

A real ladder. The technology exists to factor in real time wind direction.

Wind speed in each part of the course.

Always on overhead video in a main window, with a separate "human interest" and other bullshit and commercials in a smaller secondary window.

Only real racers commenting on the race as it unfolds, and only commentating on technique, tactics, strategy, and condition changes.

Pre=show comments restricted to technique, tactics, strategy for teams and conditions.

In general do not show competitors commenting on their boats, or other boats. They are usually restricted from doing so by their teams.

Longer courses, which I assume will come eventually.

  4. I have to say I’m not a fan. That was like watching paint dry. I’d much rather they go back to regular boats with big crews and spinnakers. Tacking duels, jibing duels etc.

  5. More than stupidly ridiculous‼️‼️🥵🥵 Absolutely shameless waste of time by all concerned… race committee should be ashamed of themselves for perpetrating such a pile of crap!

  6. This has turned into a vast multi-million dollar farce. They are in the wrong part of the world at the wrong time of the year. And they can't admit it. They are destroying the sport. Money talks? No, cretins talk. It is sickening.

  7. I never saw a sailing race where boats are allowed to dive in the last second behind the line and go upwind to start!! WTF! If this according to rules, then at least explain to us as sailors….. Joke!. Was it? Very disappointed, who do you think is watching this for 2 hours… 🙄

  8. It's becoming just a Show for people who don't understand anything about rules, just like F1 where the audience just wants to get entertained. Having no clue what is going on….. Sadly!

  9. SailGP, please note well: THIS is how to cover foiling yachting!
Thanks for the: PROPER 1080p with 60 frames per second – this is a bare minimum – not an aspirational thing! Boat speeds often displayed! Great commentary. Excellent graphics. Drone shots. helicopter shots. Great camera and audio from the boats!

  10. SAD. The original America's Cup boats, big yachts, and the Canadian Bluenose, involved massive numbers of craftsmen and women, making by hand the Hulls, Ropes, and Sails, and teams of skilled people to sail them. Now 4 people, in little holes, in computer designed and made plastic. Replace the people with AI computers, not drones. "Intel beats Ryzen to win the cup!" My little 16 foot sailboat had more drama. 6 knots of wind would move the oldies, even up to 2000. The Bluenose is on the Canadian dime! Which of these would be on a coin? Unplug the computers and give them adzes and a log.

  11. The chase boat issue is pure Green Wash by the corporate backers. Irrelevant compared to the carbon footprint of any international sports event. The transport of people and equipment has an enormous footprint quite apart from the tourism that these events are designed to stimulate. I am ashamed that my favourite sport has be so corrupted that it can pretend to be " sustainable ". Humbug. Just be honest!

  12. Seems like you missed the ruling in that port starboard. It was that ITA did not start, so did not have rights. Nothing to do with the way the french tacked.

  13. No mention of VMG, which, I'm sure, is what is important to the teams, and is a good indication of the strategy they are employing. Let's have VMG back in the commentary and data.

  14. I'm old school, get rid of the foil boats. These foil boats are only fun with wind and are no fun to watch wallowing like pigs in the mud. Sorry, can't watch this boring event. I love the America's Cup and sailing in general, but this is just sad.

  15. I must admit that I'm not a fan. It reminded me of watching paint dry. They should return to regular boats with large crews and spinnakers, in my opinion. Duels for jibing, tacking, etc.
