3. Hmm start with the Wharram plans, the assumption being that if something failed they would update the plans to mitigate the risk.

4. Yet another boat building/refitting friday, maby one day all of my three favourite boat channels will meet up at some distant anchorage and share the joy of a coconut that have traveled the seas just like them.
   -after all there is a fleet out there, they are very helpfull but camera shy tho, they are watching you from all over this globe, they are the possibility of a full tank of water, the engine when yours out, trust none 100% embrace the ones you feel…
   -and get out sailing when your ready, rush is a fools game if, dont invest in speedboats for sailing 😉

6. Don’t kid yourself when buying engines! YOUR LIFE COULD ONE DAY DEPEND ON THEM! KNOWING THE HISTORY AND BREAKING IN AN ENGINE PROPERLY MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE!! DO NOT KID YOURSELF INTO SAVING MONEY!! ONE DAY YOU LIFE AND YOUR BOATS LIFE WILL DEFINITELY DEPEND ON THEM!! ❤

   Another thing…
   Bear in mind that countries like New Zealand and Australia have tough bio-security laws so if you ever get to either country, any 'raw' untreated or unpainted wood will possibly need to be fumigated at your cost and it will not be cheap.
   Just imagine where you would be now if you had put a little more thought and effort into working harder over the summer.

9. Nice mast beam. Nice choice on hardwood blocks. 316SS bolt material also good choice. I'm a little iffy on the lag bolt diameter and length tho. 1/2 inch (12mm) feels better. Allthread rod with washers feels the best. What does the drawings say? I always over design and make stuff hell for stout.

11. I’m not sure if you’ve gone all American but that tool is pronounced “rowter”. A “rooter” is what you sort out your network with 😂

12. Nice work, next time instead of using dish soap, place a length of masking tape over the wood to provide a smooth surface.

13. I do a lot of woodwork. One thing that held your tools out is to put paste wax on the bottom of your tools and it will make it glide better on the wood.

16. Those bolts should be "through-hole" [bolt with nut on opposite end, with washers on both sides]. Those lag bolts will NOT be strong enough!

17. Hey Mark at one time I used to cut those 6"X8"X 20ft beams into Douglas fir fire wood. lol was a fallen in mill.

18. Mark I don't think this boat when you have finished it will be safe to cross oceans ok for the med and coastal but its a untried design you have done yourself . But as someone has said lashing the beam to the cross beams can only help. Maybe if you get it signed off by a marine engineer hopefully would prove me wrong.

20. The biggest force on the beam you're installing is compression. You could almost hold it in place with a couple long dry wall screws and 2 dobs of thickened epoxy. Beautiful piece of laminated lumber that will handle everything you could ever put against it. Looking good!
