  1. Not a multi meter in sight!!! You need to check each battery for voltage etc. Disconnect your solar panels first, then th possitive lead from battery to boat, then negative lead. Then take out and dump your Hot battery as it obviously has a dead cell or cells and will eventually kill your other batteries, it is now just a big resistor in your circuit were you shoulnt have one. Try and match your batteries with their capacity and output voltages as best as possible. Wish I could help but Id need to be there really.

  2. Invest in some clear Tarp, I got on in B&M in the UK for 9.95. You can make a makeshift tent/cover to work underneath in the rain. Clear lets the light through so you can see underneath it. That way you can continue to work despite the rain. If you use the sikaflex correctly (think of the paths the water will or can take and seal of the approach, it should be no problem, a small bit applied to the underside of the bolt heads just before insertion aswell as in and around the holes, and light cloth or cord wrapped around the length of the bolt along with sikaflex or other sealant or caulk will bunch up and help greatly also. Check out sailing yaba and their rebuild, especially the keel or planking videos for an idea of what I mean.

  3. I've commented before and this is my last rant. Ditch the engine and get a brand new one. Mine cost less than you have spent poncing about with yours.

  4. As for the shore power cable, I learned something: if you brought it from shore to the boat last time, you have to bring it from the boat to shore the next time. That way there is no cable tangle

  5. I've followed the struggles to achieve what you have, and that is a considerable achievment. Now that the engine is shot I must throw my tuppence in: Primarily; there is an old Scotish proverb which says "You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear", and I have found that to be true in my life. Secondly, and maybe more importantly, I haven't heard you discussing actinic degradation. If you are not aware of this issue with GRP boats I reckon, considering the boats location for most of it's life, that it would be worth checking before more coin is thrown at her. I hope this works for you, you are stars.

  6. As you go into winter we go into summer 🙏🙏🙏..Yoshi now a a good lovely little sea dog. Please wear p.f.d and set up a retrieval
    device.Keep safe and happy sailing.🇦🇺.⚓️

  7. Wish you were near me. I would have given you a set of 4 one year old trojan golf cart batteries in great condition and a rebuilt Westerbeke W30 diesel engine. Oh well, I'll have to find another home for them.

  8. towing your dinghy like that is NOT a good idea. especially in winds over F4. It WILL flip upside down a be like 'glued' to the water.
Get in davits or on deck on such passages.

  9. Can I suggest you really should secure those batteries. If you get some heavy weather, you don't want them flying around. Also as they are super heavy, they would be better much lower down in the boat to keep your Centre of Gravity low.

  10. So just my opinion I watch your videos not just for the sail boat but because of the both of you please do more videos it doesn't matter what you are both doing even if it has nothing to do with boats . I watch Uma sailing and Texas Philippino . Both great . So more videos please I like you guys .

  11. You are doing your apprenticeship on the boat and so far you have done pretty well
It is interesting watching you develop skills needed for safe and mostly comfortable onboard life. You are really going to sort your wiring as this is a great source of disaster by fire and fire at sea means disaster for all onboard
As far as leaky decks goes you can bed fittings with butyl tape and sika and this should reduce your problems

  12. Boiling?
Maybe more like electrolysis. The heat can come from electricity made by the other batteries, becuase that battery act more like an electrolysis cell (a resistor) than a battery.

  13. Mark, re the starting problem, are you sure fuel is not siphoning back or leaking back through the pump? I had this on an old volvo and by hand pumping it using the lever on the pump, it was better. Clearly something caused it but I was scrapping the engine anyway. I guess you don't want to hear that bit!

  14. The sound of the boat engine reminds me of the Boat from the movie #Jaws.
Make sure you're not followed guys,… those sharks know things! lol
