Port tack boat giving way to boat on starboard tack. Basic rule for boats sailing upwind
Beat tactic #1- always duck the starbrd tack boat in the last 30% of the leg and keep the right of way to the top mark.

That other boat was totally in the wrong. And my blood I am supposed to avoid any and all collisions. However that stupid arrogant b** that was driving that boat. Needed to get run over. He put everybody on his boat in danger because of stupidity. It is a matter of time before he gets someone killed
A yacht on Port tack must give way to a yacht on Starboard. Pretty basic unless you don't actually understand what port and starboard tacks are!. Everyone should learn in a dinghy… makes you a much better sailer.

A couple of boatlenghts Im always steering direct, half boatlength aft of the starboard cumming boat. If the wind is hard, im beginning to turn before.
Not a "racing" rule. Just a standard rule.

There is a moment, when the camera looks over the port railing into the cockpit of the other boat, that is sailing from right to left. Under the leg of the rearmost crewmember in black you can see a small black handle in the white wall of the cockpit. That is the handle for gear and accelerator. => -the boat has an engine.
It's hard to see thru a genny. If that soling got hit, right of way won't matter much. Giving foul air or not. I didn't hear anyone call out starboard !
