  1. I am converting used petrol engines to electric, resulting in a better performance, longer range and a cheaper investment. The current market offerings are not an affordable alternative yet

  2. yes be sure to get a 9'9 cover and most used looking as possible, to slow down outboard stealing. drill a hole thru top to install lifting rig or just remove it when lifting. some places tax based on HP and some require insurance.

  3. Paint that cowling as a diver flag, semi useful and disguises the very shiny new outboard from the ‘undesirables’

  4. Please put the runaway/ emergency power cut off strap onto some part of you ….cause you never know when you might be knocked off the dinghy

  6. Those that criticize everyone in the name of saving the planet are doing it sitting in the air conditioned rooms sipping on their latte all made with electricity coming from the grid, so don’t sweat it the planet will be fine.

  7. I do 4,5 knot with a 2,4 meter dingy but i go 3 knot with 300 Watt so 4 hours, i charge the battery with a standard charger 220 Volt and the solar panel charge a litium 90 amp with s is supplie the inverter 😂

  8. Hej Mads, måske et ‘løfte-øje’ kan monteres på selve motoren? Et beslag der sidder under toppen, og er boltet til motoren. Mener de større motorer har sådanne..

  9. I think 15 hp is quite the overkill for such a dinghy. Carrying a bit of 2-stroke oil is not really a disadvantage. WIth 1:50 mix even just a few liters will last very long, unless you plan to keep using the dinghy for days non-stop.

  10. One other consideration when opting for a gasoline dinghy motor is that you now need to carry very flammable gasoline onboard . Much more dangerous than diesel or propane.

  11. What kind of real life charging do you get from your solar array. If you have 1.6kw of panels I would have thought you would be lucky to pull in any more than maybe 5 or 6 kW per day even in sunny climates. If you have induction coming and air con, they would eat through that kind of power fairly quickly. Also what capacity is your battery bank? Good luck with the Yamaha.

  12. We have a cheap 75lb thrust trolling motor with a 100Ah battery just so we can go wildlife watching, we have a 3hp (prefer our old 2hp) for taxiing around, it’s cheap and light, good for beaches…. And our trusty 15hp for adventurising

  13. 2 stroke? REALLY? From electric to that? Come on…..dirty shit from the 80ies…thats embarrassing. Where are you allowed to use them in Europe? I thought they were banned there years ago? That's a bad move…

  14. guys just remember , most popular outboard also means most stolen off boats … ask me how i know 🙁 but just keep it out of sight even if it is a massive pain !

  15. Why do they not make an electric outboard that can hydro regenerate? Have a bracket on the transom or tow the dinghy with the outboard down for a few hours and it could top itself up. All wind powered. I accept that it would take a bit of time but no noise, smell, fuel etc.. That said i do own a 3hp 2 stroke Yamaha o/b and it is excellent…mostly. It is prone to sucking up sand and blocking the cooling system though. 😮

  16. Clear episode again, but the main pro of the 4 stroke vs 2 stroke is that is less polluting. The 2 stroke spills more oil and smoke. And the greener pro’s of the electric motor (even when you charge it with a fossil engine or generator. I really miss that angle in your review. We all contribute, even if it is very rarely…

  17. Hey Guys! Love the channel. Inspired us to also purchase our current boat. We'd also love that spiffy OC tender. I just found out Mantus Marine is building and releasing a hard sided tender comparable to the OC. I think it starts at $6k USD. We will be watching it closely as our tender will likely need replacing soon.

  19. Don't forget some kind of system to secure the outboard to the dingy, so it will be there when you return to it or wakeup in the morning. Also, you might have to register it to be legal.

  20. Well done. I've seen several switch to an electric outboard for their dinghy. I'm all for electric. But I've always considered them a hazard for the 'car' to be used in port. I've seen several SV channels roll into a port with high winds and rough weather. Exploration away from the SV and out of the port is very limited with
    electric. There can be moments when having an outboard that will power through those rougher-than-normal seas may be important. And electric just doesn't have the range or power needed to get the job done. Thumbs up. Maybe in five years electric will be ready.
