This month I chose:
GREEN PALM STRIPES
SHARKS
BLUE MARLIN
Slow Horses is epic on AppleTV! Very British and a very different take on the spy story genre. Get well soon EEs!!
have you thought of going on fusion360 and making a housing you can 3D print that would go on the alternator with a high volume computer fan to suck or blow fresh air onto said alternator. there must be a creators lab somewhere in town that has printers. just an idea……ʕ•́ᴥ•̀ʔっ
Loved watching that come together! 🎉
I had an allergic reaction to something in it let me know only one bottle is open but the others are factory sealed
The alternator will get hot, your pulling 250 amp from it the winding will have a resistance of 0.05 Ohms, 250 amps x 12 Vac is 3000 watts of power being used @ 250 amps
She's a keeper Brett
Maybe I missed it but I remember awhile back your battle born batteries were not charging equally? Thought maybe one of them may have been bad. Did you ever resolve that, was there an episode explaining how and what you did in conjunction with BB, I recalled you said you were going to contact them.
I am always impressed with the way Brett can fix things. One smart dude. You guys make a great team.Really enjoy your videos.
DO NOT CHARGE THE LITHIUM BATTERY TOO INTENSLY OR IT WILL DEGRADE
Hi guys, love your show. Just a little guidance for using an IR thermometer. They all measure an average temperature of a circular area having a diameter of generally 1/10 or 1/12 the distance held away from the surface of interest. That is, if you hold it 4 feet away, you are averaging a temperature of 4”-6” diameter area of engine, not just the alternator. To capture the alternator temperature, you need to be 6” to 12” away from your target. FYI.
@25:10 Yep, just like you 2. Diesels thrive under an appropriate workload, and hate running without.👴😁😉🤗
Hoe sick is sick?
Jade, have you been working out? You're looking good! 🎉
Brett has to start stepping up his exercise routine 😂
I love ALL of the series you mentioned!!! Just finishing Constellation.
I just bought car fuses that have a fuse on top that come on if the fuse blows. Easier to find a blown fuse – a little more expensive.
Do you have a fresh air input/exhaust vents in the engine compartment. If so, can you connect a hose to the exhaust vent and put the other end by the alternator, with a small fan to pull the hot air into the vent tube? If you just put a fan blowing on the alternator it is just going to heat up the engine compartment and eventually shut down the alternator and regulator. I you do not have a fresh air vent system in the compartment you may want to add one.
Thanks!
Hey guys – great episode! What your concerns/issues with the Balmar alternator regulator?
Man, YouTube is doing you guys dirty. There is no choice to change the resolution on the settings. This has been this way for at least the last 4 videos, 16 to 24 hours after you posted the video. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news.
Water cooled alternator needed!
You should view captain Rick Moore's experience with alternators and a 48 volt system. He is able to fully electrify all boat systems. He is very knowledgeable on matters electrical on boats. He uses a combination of two alternators and extensive solar panels and a wind generator. Exploiting the reduced current of a 48 volt system vs lower voltages (study ohm's law), heat production is greatly reduced. He is able to install a mini-split ac system with the increased available power.
My wife and I were in Barcelona last weekend and definitely kept one eye out for a random Jade/Brett sighting. Love all your stuff here and at Expedition Engineering!
