By heck they've put a lot more into todays STCW since I came ashore back at the turn of the Century, for the better I might add, but it's still a lot to learn!
Kika, I think you can't be accused of any crime (as the Portuguese said) – when you can't hide your candy 🤣
The way they taught you that first screening of a person with that trick with the watch was blowing my mind. Fabulous! Great course.
Never been a week in Gibraltar – now I have one reason more than before.
Would love to see med kit. Expiry dates important…thank u 🇨🇦
Wow youll be ready when you start inviting patreons on board.
Since you are in the Med the same time as Sailing Project Atticus are you two taking about meeting up?
Seriously funny ! Good job as usual , thank you
Super interesting episode! And how nice of the rescue company to give you those insights. Seeing this, I checked all my gear and fire extinguisher and life jackets on the boat. Keep on working like that …! Cheers, Rob.
Such an important video! Thanks
i did my first STCW coure back in 1983 and after that i spend 7 days in the liferaft in Baltic sea in January in ICE water and LR contain only survival gear and we had 25ppl inside, nice and easy and 7 days in ice water,, and we did need to get comfortable as we are humans and we did need toilet times….you can image and it's was good times as afte that my 34yrs at sea, i been in real situations as well and few limes lost my fellow fellows as well.
Really interesting segment. Great idea to take the course.
Great video!!! 🎉
Congrats 🙌 you guys are great YouTubers 🍀
I would strongly suggest you take a basic medical training, just to know how to act in emergency (like when Dan had a head injury).
Basic surgical procedures are not that difficult and anyone can be trained to perform local anesthesia, stitch even quite a deep wound or remove an abscess.
Such knowledge can be life saving.
Common sense tells everyone, this should be part of your insurance before you can put to sea. Compulsory .
Allabroad are top folks! Did my skipper ticket with them. Beautiful place to be. I know you're miles away by now but sailing across ths Straits to Ceuta is a lovely wee day sail.
hey Dan and Kiki this was a marvelous video. so many different life-saving circumstances happen in life all over the planet. be safe and catch you down the waterway, bye.
A. Are you members of the Young Cruisers Association? B. Have you submitted yourselves for any of the 10 International Cruisers Awards for the Annapolis Boat show? I think you definitely should go for Remote Adventure of the Year if not all 10 categories. I don't believe you have to be a member to submit yourselves for any of the categories.
Hey didn't you all do this in the Royal Navy?
Yes, Med kit video!!
Another great video! Very interesting and informative!
Hello! I am a sailor aboard a crude oil tanker and a recent graduate of a maritime college! It is great to see that someone is learning about what we do. We often feel forgotten out here but we make the modern world work. Currently a 3rd mate aboard the Overseas Texas City in the Gulf of Mexico, day 35 out of 90. I have it easy, most seafarers are at sea for 180 days or more, thank you for showing a part of our world. ❤
That was a lot of work for you both and it's greatly appreciated
Portugal probably banned Kika based on this and possibly other future videos .
Now we know !
As an ex CG-search and rescue too many times a life lost was because of not wearing a life jacket…
Unsurprisingly, another EPIC and brilliantly presented vid.
Guys, keep up the great work and am so looking forward to you future steps.
Let’s see a medical kit video
It's something that when they used Kika to demonstrate hypothermia, they were probably using the only one in the class that's been swimming north of the arctic circle.
After all this time, your videos keep getting more interesting and enjoyable. You always seem to find an different angle to every spot you go.
She is a horrible smuggler.
19:00 I was watching a video about putting together a survival kit for a light plane and they suggested including something I would never have thought to include, but it makes a lot of sense. It should be included in any sort of survival kit.
That is, include a carton of cigarettes. I have never smoked so I would never have thought of this, but it was pointed out that the last thing you want in a stressful survival situation is a smoker who is trying to quit smoking cold turkey because they have nothing to smoke.
In addition, tobacco can be used in a wound dressing because tobacco can be used topically as an antiseptic and it promotes blood clotting. It can be used if you have nothing better.
It's not an item that is the difference between life and death, but it's something that can make waiting for rescue a lot more comfortable for everyone.
That is so cool! We both did our YMO certificate with Allabroad! Two days after passing our exam we bought Squalo, our Oyster 39! She happened to be sitting in Gibraltar marina for some time. So we kind of .. rescued her really 😅
I don't agree with all the certificates and over regulation by the government. It should all be voluntary
I absolutely would love to see a video on your medical kit on board!
It’s so interesting to se how it goes. Awesome episode.
Interesting, no license/certificate of competency for how many miles? I guess you need a VHF license now…
