Nice work, right down my alley!
Thank you for this! I have a thirty year old pontoon that needs this
Just want to share what I think is the best way to connect wires. Buy non insulated crimp connectors, slide on marine grade heat shrink, and crimp your connection. Now heat your marine heat shrink [ you can see the glue melt to the wire] and now you have a small water tight connection that also helps protect from wire bending over and over and breaking. Works for butt connections and terminal ends.
Thanks for the update!
Love your videos🤩nice job! Thanks for charing. Greetings from Oslo Norway😊
Makes me want to buy my old 1720 back just to do this. 🙂 fantastic work! Now I just have to draw up the panel layout on the 2300.
That dash panel is fire!! 🔥
Amazing transformation. Wonderful work!
VERY nicely done!
my god those dash panels are amazing, I wish someone here in New Zealand produced that type of product
Weird spot for the radio when your buddy has to reach down into your lap to adjust the volume. Unless…. You’re into that! Then it’s cool I guess.
Will the cell phone interfere with the magnetic compass?
Hi Does NewWire sponsor your channel in any way?
Very nice job looks great. I trimmed that gasket. It would drive me crazy looking at it every day.
As someone that makes this stuff from scratch regularly I have to say I'm totally blown away about the New Wire Marine products you just got. Absolutely phenomenal how it's all complete and done for you. It looks as good as it can get!!!
Could have moved the phone charger closer to the Garmin and then moved the drink holders closer to the compass to lessen the impact of the electronics on the compass.
4×8 starboard for 77 bucks at HD?? That would be solid.
My first comment I would thank you for all videos gave,me the confidence to tear down my 1996 alumacraft dominated made her look brand new
I have a 2006 1720. My switches are fine but the covers were sun bleaches. I did get new covers from new wire marine. Made a big difference. Looking forward to the wiring video. My wiring is a mess. Why do previous owners do such a hack job when it comes to wiring.
I am so glad you removed the mold under the console.
Long time subscriber first time commenting, I cannot stop watching your channel. The 1720 project is my favorite to date, keep up the great work!
I'm only an amateur, but I think you would have been happier with the end product – and possibly even more efficiently done – if you had filled in the old, sloppy holes in the console, by glassing in new marine plywood – or a synthetic – then finishing both inside and out with a one part polyurethane paint on sanded fiberglass – then cutting new, more accurate holes. The result would have been the look of an entirely new console, inside and out.
Someone update me, do you no longer live in the keys ?
they did awesome with the panels, very nice
Beautiful job! Recommend using a step drill bit on your windshield next time.
Great ideas for making your 2004 look sharp. Watched from beginning to end this morning.
Something strangely satisfying about making old stuff new/refreshed and cool again…
Beautiful piece of work! 😍
Would you mind sharing what the total cost was for this project? Thank you.
Plexiglass specific drill bits are pretty inexpensive on Amazon and do a much better job than standard drill bits. My second choice is a step bit. They don't snag and chip the acrylic. The 3 bit sets from Harbor Freight are a great deal and work well on fiberglass, too, especially for enlarging existing holes as they self- center. Either way, better drill bits are a lot cheaper than buying new Plexiglass again. I hope this is helpful.
What an absolutely beautiful job 👍👍
Great video and awesome job I’m rewiring my 99 Striper right now losing time on the water but it’ll be worth it I purchased my new rocker switches from new wire marine but after watching videos I might spend the money on them building out my panel thanks again
wow the sun is brutal on everything Great video
I've installed thousands of acrylic windows in Fl rooms over the past 30yrs, best thing I've found is just plain water with a table spoon of fabric softener and 100% cotton ( cloth baby diaper). I've been back to houses yrs later and glass looks brand new still.
Where can i get the soft pad you used underneath the gps, cupholders
You can probably use a black permanent marker and color the gasket under the controls. I have had to do the same. well done and thanks for sharing.
@ the 5:82 mark…. You should offer your layout planning skills to all the manufacturers. I have a feeling they just slap it together like “here ya go”
I think you did a great job on this, couple of things I would have done differently is put the compass dead center with the wheel, then the cup holders on the outsides, rather than having to reach across everything. Just a personal preference thing.
When drilling plastics that can chip out, clamping a block of hard wood each side that has been pre-drilled will do wonders for guiding the bit through and preventing the chips.
It seems like everything you do is directly useful to the work I’m doing on my boat. And it’s been going on for years!
What’s the best adhesive for HDPE ?
Want to come help redo my console on a Boston Whaler?
This is why I'm followed you for years. You're turning dust into gold! Great video!
