That's awesome and so is your PFD and yachting world. See I knew we'd see eye to eye sooner or later.
That was a terrible display of an emergency , where was the man , and the water was calm .
I wouldn't have minded just a bit more explanation about the manoeuvre.
If you head up before dumping the guy, and then dump the halyard, could you conceivably haul the spinnaker down the mast? And if you have blown everything but the halyard into the water, how do you then go about retrieving the sail?
An interesting technique – I would like to see you try and do this for real in any type of breeze over F4 plus the risk of fouling your prop is massive and of course it all relies on the fact that your sheet, guy & halyard run free with no snags! With all that in mind it is highly likely that you would end up disabling your yacht and not getting back to the person at all! I am all for new ideas and techniques but only ones that work!
It's good to get people thinking about theses kinds of situations. Something that is rarely covered during RYA courses…
the message is clip yourself to the ing boat dumb shits!
Yachting World should also post the link to the articles that go with these videos..
what the fuck was that?!? blow the guy?!? seriously?!
