4. Really?! As full time cruisers, I am sorely disappointed in the Wynns for creating this video. They obviously have been out of the US for too long. Encouraging people to go live on a boat because it’s CHEAPER than living on land?! They apparently are OBLIVIOUS to the issues we’re already having on both US coasts with people trying to move onto boats as “affordable housing”. These become dock queens and take slips and resources from folks who actually want to go boating. Our prime anchorages are being CLOSED as they try to keep out derelict liveaboards. This video is a huge disservice to the cruising communities. 👎

6. Interesting discussion. You're probably in this boat for $25-30,000 per month plus fuel. Given the analysis at the end of the vid, maintenance seems to be the big diff between a condo & a boat. If you consider the boat is equal(ish) to a condo & a slip is a wash with an HOA fee, then the 20% maint ($200,000 per year for a $1M boat), is the diff. Your HOA probably pays for most maintenance on a condo. The boat would be $16,600/month just for the maintenance. That's above the $6000/mo for an 80% loan for 20 years & $3000/mo slip. Sounds like a $1M boat is over $25,000/month BEFORE you ever leave the dock (& that's in after income tax funds). Also, just like a house you still need to add insurance (+registration & likely some sort of use tax). That's some serious Patreon dough needed.

    Fabulous cabins , galley etc .
    A cupboard is a shelf /hanging space . Solid/veneer wood is nice and expensive .
    I would use ply wood , paint /stain /seal where needed . Good for 15 years + .
    So life on the ocean waves 🙂 Less the day to day costs of living on land . Only $250 /month here .

19. Generator usage:
    Using the generator for one or even a couple hours a day at anchorage would probably equal what land lubbers use in their vehicles per day and you're not using a vehicle at all. Therefore it averages out. So boat if you want or sit down in your stick, frame and mortar home, either way, enjoy life.
