  1. When I bought our boat in April it had a manual windlass and I lifted the anchor by hand twice and that was enough. First purchase was an electric windless, best buy sever

  2. Great vid Terry. You are really getting the hang of this YouTubey stuff not to mention your sailing skills and confidence. There's a massive technical improvement from your earliest vids, not to say they were inferior, just not as polished 😁🤔😄👍

  3. You think you look silly in your hat you're wearing while on the ocean in a sailboat 🤔😁 I'll have you know I'm sat in my garden with a fluffy blanket wrapped round me & a large roll-up 😏😉 watching a bloke sailing around the UK on a wing & a prayer & enjoying every minute 👍.

  4. Don't be apprehensive about talking about depression or mental health, your openness makes it easier for the rest of us. Fair winds skipper, you're doing great!

  5. Bumble, I was being gas-lighted by colleagues at a school I worked at and as everybody knows schools have the worst management in the Universe. I got to being unable to open the front door of my flat to go to work. The school sent me to the HR dept with the worst shink in the Galaxy. Had I not got a few sessions with a therapist who believed me, I do not know what I would have done. In the end I took early retirement and lived off my savings until I reached statutory retirement age. The conclusion is mental illness is the pits, it doesn't mean we are nutters and therapists certainly help.

  6. Oh my God, I can’t believe you took a sailing boat through Jack sound! You have more courage than me sir! I remember going through that as a youngster on a rib and I’m sure there was five meter standing waves!

  7. Use to put my anchor chain to the cockpit in the med when I was solo med parking. Gets a bit tricky when you misjudge the length you need. You’re doing a great job sailing when you can. Long slow stints of nothing going on, I use to use the time reading, learning something or doing something with ropes

  8. I’ve not sailed for 15years, sold everything in May and brought a sailboat, what the hell was I thinking of?? Not sure but blimey I’ve had some fun, my favourite upgrades, lithium battery, solar/power management, freezer, microwave, unlimited WiFi sim router and a sib/outboard. I already had a windless but I could not do without that, 30kg anchor… and at anchor lots of the time, you enjoy buddy I admire your honesty

  9. I can imagine a pod of dolphins playing off your bow is a pretty effective treatment for depression! I used to live near Milford Haven in a place called Haverfordwest, beautiful country. Keep steaming ahead Terry!

  10. Terry, what you are doing is great, many a experienced sailor has yet to do this. So you can be a bit more positive please?

  11. FYI, you can manually haul in the anchor even in a serious blow. I've done it with bow into 30 knots+ in a boat bigger than yours. Just start slow and get some momentum going.

  12. Compelling viewing Terry. Because you take your time to explain each aspect…I can get the thought processes, the apprehension and the forward thinking. It’s perfect.

You are a great storyteller. Absorbing. Feel privileged to be part of it.

You are currently in Crinan…wisely sheltering from the big blow which is arriving with force today, Wednesday 21 August.

Fair winds. A great adventure. ⛵️
