Great video!!!! #NavyVeteran
Wondering about the “opulence” of the MSC Yacht Club!
How's the gen pop food compare on each? Or is it less necessary compared to Celebrity where not all meals are available in a Retreat venue (I'm not including the small Retreat deck pool menu).
Hi Tim and Felicia, loved your video and info. We have done The Haven, The Retreat and The Yacht Club and given included in the price food, One Pool area with buffet, made to order grill for breakfast and lunch, fridge filled with our favorite drinks, lounge area with food treats available, private restaurant with excellent food and selection, all the water we want and THE PRICE…MSC Yacht Club is hard to beat.
I totally agree with you. We've done NCL Haven many times including the Owner's Suite. We decided to try the Yacht Club. Haven't been back to NCL. Feel the attention to detail was much better in YC. Our butler on MSC would find us several times during the day and check on us. NCL we would see the butler maybe once a day. An yes… The price difference is amazing on MSC compared to NCL.
Your facial reaction reading the Haven menu made me laugh out loud
Thanks!!!! We are considering MSC Yacht Club… (on a newer U.S. based ship)
First, I will say that the experience in cruising can be very different from ship to ship, and even from sailing to sailing on the same ship. Depends on current staff, etc….
One blogger sailed MSC YC twice, just a few weeks apart. The food was definitely not good the first time, and was good-great on the second.
I am not sure about the older MSC ships, but on newer ships, the elevator wristband thing does work and gets you the next available elevator, probably all to yourself.
And, It is supposed to be possible that one can always have YC staff 'escort' them to where they are going, and handle the situation with any elevators and lines.
To be honest, the menu shown there on NCL had much more selection. There were like 10 main entrees… Including prime rib every night. So, one could have a different supper every night, for one week, and still not have 3-4 of the menu offerings.
While MSC varies the menu each night, there are only a few offerings each night.
MSC – Prime Rib is usually only offered once a week, maybe on night one. Filet is always available. But, we wish Prime Rib was, as well. As it also is on the new Sun Princess 'Sanctuary'.
MSC seems to be more 'European' oriented, so the menu each night seemed to feature things like Lamb and Risotto. And seemed hard to navigate for a '100% American' with more limited culinary tastes.
Just guessing, but looks like, from what I am seeing, MSC wins in almost all areas, EXCEPT for the lack of menu offerings and 'Always Available' menu selections.
Thanks for the great comments!!!!
We regretted The Haven every minute we were on board. It might be because we cruised on the Ritz Evrima two years prior and our expectations were higher. But let's be for real, it is just acting like a private yacht within a cruise ship. The menu sucks (I was legit grumpy and at times low key angry about the food, -also, wym I can't have coffee at the bar???), paying for drinks in the room sucks, the deck areas full of kids suck, they closed too early and there was zero ambiance. I tip up front 100 per suite (and tip more on the last day) and expect a really good service, but sadly we didn't receive the service we expected. The butler was a nice guy but wouldn't help us unpack and pack (my mother who likes things a certain way was very bothered about this), we only saw him in the morning for our breakfast which he screwed up a couple of times and overall wasn't very helpful at all. Our suites were BEAUTIFUL. For sure very comparable to the ones on the Evrima. I was very happy with the bed and the bathroom. But overall I don't think it was worth the money. They can absolutely change it overnight and make it better but I don't think they will. We might try the Yacht Club next or save up a bit more and try the new Ritz yacht in two or three years from now.
ALWAYS Yacht Club. Haven costs more and gives you less.
Yacht Club hands down
After 5 cruises in YC all I can say is MSC has earned my loyalty after sailing other brands based on itinerary up until our first MSC cruise in '23. Reason we decided to become brand loyal for the first time ever was twofold. YC price is equivalent to standard balcony rooms on X, NCL, and the newest RCCL ships; MSC really seems to be focused on improving the product, our 5th and most recent cruise was by far and away the best, food and entertainment has improved significantly and I can sincerely say I think MSC now has the best "party vibe" at sea. It's truly like 2 for 1, main ship for partying and entertainment, YC for when we've had enough and want to escape to somewhere quiet and relaxing.
You are probably responsible for breaking things on the ship.
YACHT CLUB ALL DARN DAY. Haven is overrated.
Yacht club. All day everyday. We’ve done the haven, never again. Try MSC Explora, next level in cruising
I was on Prima for my birthday earlier this year and loved the free movie selection. I watched a movie every night of my cruise.
Did the MSC Opera , World Europa and onto Euribia in middleeast and all I'm getting is bunch of NCL passengers joining MSC via status match in YC. MSC is fresh , renovated and best bang for buck. Awesome video but that Haven is nowhere near YC fresh deco, lightings the layout and Haven's vibe is dead.
Haven you don’t pay for drinks . You don’t need a drink package,
Glory hole 😂
No need to kick the furniture, would you do that at home?
