  1. Thanks for posting this as I now have a setup on the way to the same thing! Beautiful boat to! If you get down to Monterey Bay and see a sailboat towing a kite you can credit your video.

  2. is that a twizzle setup on the twin headsails? that seems to work really nicely. I have a bayfield 25. looks like a similar boat. very nice. and inspiring.

  3. Absolutely fabulous video, to which I return and watch over and over,,,music, ocean, sailing, adventure… and dreams.  I recall a wonderful passage from T.E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) in his "Seven Pillars of Wisdom"…."All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible."

  4. Amazing! I never would imagine how you could get the kite ahead of the boat. I've done some myself but never managed anything more than the stern quarter. Very steady video. Can you divulge equipment? Was it a Picavet rig?
    Thanks for sharing.

  5. Hmm….Lovely sailing and all but Pacific Seacraft boats are notoriously expensive….I have a 24 ft Macwester Rowan Crown which I am refitting for blue water cruising – total cost, around £7,000 over four years as opposed to Pacific Seacraft Dana 24, costs of which are HUGE….And, according to a lot of forums, Dana 24s are reluctant to heave to whereas Macwesters……Well, they do. IMHO, best thing to do is to buy a cheap, built like a tank boat and refit yourself, buy second hand equipment where possible and just go…….

  6. Time before drones =) Next summer comming to be my first sailing season. Last went by fixing the boat. Thinking to get mavic pro to film the season. But mavic costs much more than the boat so not so tasty 🙂 Of course it would be used in much more things to film also, but i might wait cheaper alternative..

  7. This is the video that started it all for me. Living 500 miles inland in Dallas, Texas, I saw this video, got in to racing boats there. Over the years I read more about this guy and his boat, found out he was part of what's called the "Singlehanded sailing society" in the San Francisco Bay Area. Finally in 2015, I moved to San Francisco, bought a sailboat in 2017 and competing in my first singlehanded race tomorrow in 2018 with an eye on completing the Pac Cup in two years. Very excited. Thanks for this video, this was video that launched a thousand sailing trips. Cheers.

  8. Thank you for this video. It will a good help for me I hope to record when I am sailing. Can you tell what a kite this is and if I have to do some modifications on it? Where can I buy this kite and all things you use? What camera do you use?

  9. 2019 and still searching out this video. It’s up to nearly half million views. I wonder how many were inspired to go sailing by this? I certainly was. The man was a pioneer long before drones. And what a perfect choice of music. Can’t say enough.
