I've removed & sealed most of mine. Only have one now for engine intake. Gone over to chemical loo and small tanks under sink for grey water. I just don't trust them. My engine seacock will soon be a trudesign plastic one too.
Bloody marvelous
Wonderful video! I lent the Stay Afloat to another boat at my marina with a broken seacock and it worked like a charm. In the video the man tries to scoop it out, but this is not the way to use it, just knock the whole mass out of the plastic jar and then press it on. Works great and is especially useful for cracks and irregular openings.
Dudes this is awesome stuff…. Now I'm going to have to go find some navy trading videos in emergency training…. Should be some good ones under submarines damage control
This is a good video. The other thing is to make sure that you can have access to tight spots in case of emergency. Don't wait until it happens.
Amazing how calm you guys are! I would be scattered. Breaking a through hull fitting during a project is always on my mind. Ty for the video.
well done on damaging another boat
ha ha ha, this guy (Chris) is SO cool. Amazing. I enjoyed this video very much. And, I picked up a few things whilst having fun. Always a good thing.
The bloke in the red had definitely had a few pints
I don’t sail boats but these little videos are quite watchable.
“Carrot – not a permanent repair”. Check. (Writes this down). I could really learn this boaty lark.
My first thought, "scuba gear". Then, "the next lesson will be on how to sail a submarine" Good videos.
You wrecked the front of that cupboard for what? You've no more access than if you'd just pulled "the bloody doors off!"
Thank you so much for doing this! Great stuff for sure. Might save someone’s life one day.
I used some of these ideas to fix a leak in Second Chances. what I did was two part under water epoxy and a wooden plug that was two years ago. still not leaking. now I put my dive gear on and did it from the out side so the water would help keep the plug in. and the epoxy sealed it up.
The putty stuff looks very similar to plumbers mait in the UK, often used to seal plastic fittings, it's non setting and sticky.
Great video! Thanks for showing us this!
This is why you use the BEST through hulls you can, or better yet, use a single through hull and a reservoir tank.
More importantly, make the through hull easily accessible.
That boat's been through a lot of crap.
I miss seeing the fella in the red shirt, direct, honest, knowledgeable. Thanks for sharing.
Wow….just wow….now more stuff I hope I never need, in my "What If" box on the boat…just make sure you can get to them fast. When I re-do my through hull valves, I'm moving them to access available area's at all possible. Thank you
A 40 foot boat will sink in an hour and a half with a 2" hole. Water will enter faster than any pump other than a high volume diesel salvage pump can manage. Through-hull fittings are holes in the boat just waiting to be unplugged, and finding the leak can be difficult in the rising bilge. Maybe through-hull fittings are simply a bad idea…..I nearly lost my boat once just from a misplaced drain plug.
