  1. In a game where transportation is widely available and high tier resources are already conveniently located I dont see what value sailing can add. I will be part of the no vote that hopefully kills this before devs waste what little time they spend developing the game on this joke of a skill.

  2. It should feel old school. Cox might not "feel" old-school but you have to draw a line somewhere. If the game didnt feel old school it wouldn't have all the players it has now. You really come across so arrogant sometimes man 😂

  3. I still am coping because everyone voted out taming. I know everyone is scared it is going to be broken like Summoning was, but they already know what went wrong with summoning, should we really be scared that they would not try to avoid previous mistakes if they had to add another similar skill?

  4. I read something about a past proposed skill that would be "like slayer but for the other types of skills." I feel like that's pretty much the only "solid" direction sailing can go in terms of gameplay / repeatability. Sail to places to gather resources or do some sort of crafting/fletching/construction task and return to port with random events happening along the way I guess which might be where the bulk of actual direct sailing xp comes in.

  5. Sailing and shamanism were basically the same skill. You gather things to go somewhere. I'd rather have this activity drug and trippy themed vs. gay sailers in their tight booty shorts out in the middle of the ocean themed. If you want to sail, go play fishing trawler you boring fucks. I want to explore other plains and defeat otherworldly monsters fought within the mind and/or other universes. How else are we to defeat manbearpig? He is a threat the the ozone and must be destroyed.

  6. I can imagine a sailing feature like herbiboar where you are sailing searching wreckage at sea and you find a sea monster or treasure at the end of the trail being rewarded with sailing xp and either slayer or hunter xp for the monster.

  7. This looks like a minigame and it will 100% feel like a minigame. There is no salvaging this skill. Runescape does not need a whole new skill as an excuse to add more islands to the game. We have dozens and dozens of islands and NONE of them ever required an entire dedicated skill to get there.

  8. Islands should 100% be locked behind the sailing skill level. I mean it makes sense, think about it some of the higher level islands will have harsh waters that require skilled sailors to traverse.

    Edit: also they can fix the whole too many islands on the map dilemma by making the islands instanced and random then you will always have that "exploration" feel to the skill without it feeling like you are doing the same monotonous thing over and over again.

  9. Sailing needs where anytime you walk to a body of water you can put your bout into to be able to sail go any other point within that body of water in a set distance that scales to sailing level. Such as you could walk up to the lumbridge river and throw your ship in and choose to sail where you want. You and a group of Pking buddies could be excited to train out 70 sailing to be able to sail out the the wilderness 50+ wilderness levels to any place on or near the shore of the north side of the Wildy. The higher your sailing level the more easily you will be able to get around. Of course not to forget sometimes during sailing far off shore such as through open water you may run into a lochness bosses islands etc.. example: oh crap, I just died at kharazi jungle. I need to get back there to get my items. Buy axe from bobs axes. Chops a tree for 3 logs. makes a canoe boat. Can walk beside any main waterway and sail back to khazari jungle for your items.
