wish you could have gone through how we get the pole and lines up, sheeting in is easy!!
Why go to the bother of buying excellent Spinlock life jackets and not use them properly. Leg straps!!!!
Appalling
Not very helpful at all!!
This could be a lot better. cut the intro. that's why i clicked. what's a guy? What's a snuffer? What's a jib? You should not use terms the novice will not understand. Just show and tell. This is a jib. Launch it behind here. Pull this rope. it's the rope that pulls the sail to the top.
Dreadful. I certainly won't be using this to help train my crew. You guys need to think a little more about how to deliver content for people who may not know what a Snuffer/guy/tack line is.
totally useless video, talking to someone who knows the stuff but when you know how to do it you can do without the video.
mulher chata !!!
Lots of complaints from people but to be honest I found it helpful.
Don't forget you need to spindle the gribbit latch and retract the stoat throttle through the mangel titgiggler.
Lots of terminology without a practical explanation, so therefore you might as well just read how to do it, and on the other hand if you’re able to understand the terminology without references then you probably already know how to fly a spinnaker!
Thanks for the video but it would be better to explain all the lines involved.
The real challenge is dropping a spinnaker, short handed, without a snuffer. I presume that video did not go too well? Come on YW, produce some good content, not click-bait!
very limited information, you covered how to raise the spinnaker in a minute or less, lots of terminology, no real demonstration in live action. I would have to agree with the rest of the comments here, I didn't find this video very informative.
ive been using spinnakers single handed for over 30 years, get some wool and tie it round the spinnaker every couple of feet it goes up easy without filling a tug on a sheet breaks the wool and it fills. to drop is fit a clutch on the mast for the halliard set the jib and drop it behind the jib.
Wow! Worst explanation video ever! Didn’t show a single item discussed!
Some good tips, but a few sub-optimal practices too..
I'm not sure why YW chose to go with RTW and Vendee Globe Sailors for advice on best practice…
I'll take my Spinnaker advice from leading Match & Fleet Racers doing hundreds of Windward / Leewards, perfecting this fine art with windward drops, leeward drops, gybe sets etc.
You can't beat guys who have to hoist and drop at marks often with 3 or 4 other boats converging within a couple of boat lengths, several times per race, not a few times per 4000km leg…
Also, the calmest & mildest conditions possible.. Strategy is very different in high winds..
