In simpler terms, use the engines like driving a tracked vehicle like a tank.
getting away is the easy part, it's the getting back that gets you.
One should lock the helm with the rudders straight. You then have both hands to control the morse controls, or throttles. We normally tie a fender horizontal on the bow in line with the dock. Engaging one motor forward and one backward, you push against the dock with your fendered bow. Once the wind is straight on your stern you engage both motors astern and move slowly away from the dock. The less lines you use the better. If a slip line gets tangled on the dock it gets tricky 🙂
