Wow, that's incredible! It is really some terrible luck. But it must be like he says, many containers in the water, because there is such a low probability of hitting a container if there are very few in the whole ocean. Maybe he was following in the wake some tens of miles behind the cargo ship.
hope you made it to your destination safe.
come on guys we are in 2016, we been in the moon in the 60' right? how is possible that nobody invent a radar that goes in the water line of the boat and check for containers or rubbish or iceberg in the sea.. this kind of accident should be something from the past..
That sucks. The damage is incredible. Need to invent a seal that will sink the container after some time in the water or something
Putain, il avait de la chance.
Bummer.
Hope he arrived safe to port.
Amazed that the vessel stayed afloat!
But why the subtitles? It's just french… not some alien language…
So glad your OK, what a frightening way to wake up..
Container ships should be made to report if they have lost cargo immediately upon discovery.. They do do regular checks of their Cargo in transit. Wow can't imagine the shock of a collision like that.
I bet this guy is shitting in his pants……Shark infested waters? I'll take the desert riding my Harley……… No sharks, can't drown, no problem…..
C'mon! Blame containers when you have proof. It could've been anything. Very few containers are lost overboard cargo ships every year, and each one is reported. They mostly sink quickly, too. It's not impossible that he hit a container, but its not likely either. It's much more likely that it was a big tree log. Thousands of large trees are washed out to sea every year and they will easily weigh a few tonnes, and be floating very low in the water for months before they sink. One of these can cause immense damage, not least to a light composite hull like this…
What a accident! I'm very sorry for you! Bonne chance!
was the movie "all is lost" written about this guy's story?
Hope you arrived safe. Lucky that that the keel or rutter wasnt damaged.
Floating containers is the only thing that scares me on the ocean.
Terrible! Was he solo?
