  1. On the Best Female in Poker award – I don't think we should have it. Additionally, we should get rid of the "Last Woman Standing" at major tournaments. I'm a dietitian and have been playing poker for almost 10 years on and off. I'm not into feminism, but I am all for Equal Rites sic (and not just as a Terry Pratchett book title!).
Great work as always, guys. I love both your channels.

  2. Yo Doug! I love the vids but what happened to your bankroll challenge?

I am currently a breakeven 10nl player but I challenge you now to a bankroll challenge starting January first 2018! We'll both start with $50 and play from 2nl(or wherever you want to start). first player to hit $100,000 wins an extra 10,000 from the losing player. Once we agree terms I will be willing to open a site where people can follow our race and join in with the fun

  3. Doug, you are 100% right. This is fair use. You should actualy sue them, i'm pretty sure there are some laws on the book to attack them

  4. If Scarface were a woman then… "Say Hello to my little friend" wouldn't have the same ring. Tell Facebook you're a" lousy teacher" and no one learns anything anyway….Like a waitress tells the IRS guy she's a lousy waitress and gets no tips. Haha

  5. Come on Doug, obviously Alec Torelli is a great and successful player. He's been beating the hightakes games for many years and he maintained a luxury traveling lifestyle throughout. He's not living off inherited money and he's not living of his Youtube revenue, he's living off poker. I understand why you don't have a ton of respect for live players in general, but Alec Torelli is certainly someone you should respect.

  6. no epts and his wsop bracelets one was a tag team and the other a $1k turbo!! lmfao …one of the best in the world…really??? i need some evidence all i hear is lies all i see is lies…

  7. maybe men on average are smarter then women. we also tend to have a male obbsession.. men and women are so fucking different lol why would you want to treat women like men? are we gonna draft women or let men play in the WNBA.

  8. Are they really that afraid of feminism or has it something to do with joei and transgender?
I dont really care if he wants me to call him pappi or mumi just want to know it!

  9. Re: Doug's opinion on women in poker. I completely agree with everything he said. However…however… we do need to make it perfectly clear that his opinion is considered to be sexist by 3rd wave feminists and social justice warriors. Their reasoning is, that white men should be more welcoming towards women and all kind of minorities/races. For example I am certain that you could find some feminists who would agree to following poker concepts and would argue in their favour:
    – less rake for female players
    – women only tournaments with same prize pool as main events
    – different table rules for female players

I have a small disagreement maybe. In chess women are worse players than men, even considering their numbers. What I mean is that from number of female players you would statistically be expecting more top female players than the reality is. I believe that at the moment there are still exactly zero female players among top 100 players in the world? Somebody might correct me, not sure if the Chinese top player is top 100 or not at the moment. There has pretty much been only one female super GM in history of chess. How did Polgar sisters became so good? Well, it is no secret that their father was obsessed with making his daughters best possible chess players. He was treating them like robots. The fact still remains that she ended being a top 10 player in the world, proving that it is possible for female player to be very best in chess. So why such huge under representation of female top players in chess? It seems to me that answer is clear: they don't take chess as seriously – on average – as male players do. And I believe that poker would be pretty much the same. 50% male-female representation among all poker players would have still bring most top players being male, for that same reason, but the gap would be much much narrower.

Another interesting thing, from chess, are the female vs male titles. I'll try to simplify the system for those that are not aware of how it works. Getting a GM title (grandmaster) requires around 2500 rating, on average. IM (international master) would require, let's say 2300 rating. These titles are universal, available to both men and women. There are however also female versions of these titles, WGM and WIM, which require only 2400 and 2200 ratings respectively. Now here is the thing. Most women are completely fine using their Women version of the titles, especially because WGM generally gets same benefits as GMs (they call it positive discrimination I guess). However there are some women that refuse to use WIM and WGM titles, because they think it's degrading and they want to keep themselves motivated to reach the "real" GM titles instead of consolation prizes.

You will never make everyone happy. Oh, and saying that… Joe… come on, man. Grow a pair. You can't be afraid of expressing your opinion on EVERYTHING where there is not at least 90% consensus among population. We have to fight for freedom of expression, freedom of speech. Yeah, it sucks that because Doug is outspoken, he will never win any award, but I don't think it's worth not expressing your opinion. Everyone's "friend" is nobody's friend.

  10. I have 4 daughters who play poker and I've taught them and they know they are looked at as a week player, Therefore they have worked hard to prove they can play as well and get great value from the mind set of the main stream. Doug I agree with what you said. Great pod cast. #"BINKS>RAKE"

  11. Cate Hall thing is complicated I'm against women only tournament and awards but also understand why she would accept it then make that speech..This brings more attention than turning it down and if she had they would ve prob given it to someone else

  12. Fine to have awards for playing decided by a jury because not a popularity contest but everything else should be a public vote.
