This simulator was not only educational but great fun!
Apart from a ferry crossing, I've never been on the water before! Now, thanks to eSail, the prospect is no longer terrifying but actually very exciting – roll on summer… In the meantime, please excuse me, I have mainsail to raise!!
You need to buy this game. Yeah, you. Imagine owning a sailboat, and heading out to the lake. Imagine that costing you under $25… Buy this game. And its only the beginning. Honestly, I cannot wait for what they add, since its still Early Access. Also, the whale is freakin cool. And Little Venice. And the channels.
As a sailing instructor I would definitely recommend ESail to anyone looking to learn or brush the rust off their skills. It provides the perfect platform to make mistakes without consequence or just to have some fun until your next time on the water!
I really enjoyed learning how to sail a yacht with eSail, the perfect introduction before my first experience on a real yacht in the summer, which I am now looking forward to even more than before.
I loved exploring the islands & searching for the POIs, great fun! Looking forward to tackling the challenges & hope to get gold medals for all in due course…..
If you have any interest in learning to sail or simply like a good computer simulation, this is excellent. I'm not a gamer of any description (but I am a sailor) and I found it very intuitive and realistic. It helped me prepare for my Day Skipper Practical so I am now fully qualified. A fun, valuable resource.
Have to say that this is the most accurate sailing simulator out there. The tutorials in the sim enabled me to learn the theory basics, which I applied in my real-life sailing introductory course. Just wish there were also sailing dinghies instead of just powered boats.
Looks like software made somewhere around 2005, so bad…
Definitely the best sim out there and I am a user! Not perfect but getting there and the most responsive devs I have known.

Liked and subscribed, then I bought it. I've always loved the water and boats, especially sailing boats. The last boat I had was an Irwin 44 center cockpit, and she was a pretty good little boat. I bought her used, cheap, and storm damaged back in the 80s. I had to sell her in the late 90s, miss that boat. Anyhow, as an old gamer and game modder, this looks awesome, I'm big into sims (Farming Simulator being one), and will be trying this out this weekend.
Is eSail moddable? And by that I mean can you create your own maps/seaways or boats? For instance in Trucking Simulator, both American and Euro, you can create new routes or highways if you have the right tools to do so, and this is submitted, and if approved by the community it's added to the game/sim as a downloadable mod. These are actual real-world sections of America or Europe/UK created from satellite, GPS, and Topo map data. I also create, using tools like Maya and 3DMax, Tractors, trucks, cars, planes, tanks, and whatever I need for the game being modded. I ask because from what I just briefly scanned on the website, eSail seems to be still under development.
I thought there was man overboard Dlc for this?
I just started my IYT skipper course. This sim is really helpful. I don't have any sailing experience yet (well, 2 hours, it doesn't count anyway) to tell how accurate it is, but if real life docking is anything like in the sim, then it's not as dreadful as I thought:)
