The door swinging closed and slamming is the most annoying noise in a storm
When that happens, keep your engine running, and be prepared to drop your anchor IMMEDIATELY. If that mooring gives way, you'll only have seconds to react.
This is the kinda of weather that money can't buy and that sailors would die for to experience once in a lifetime.
So much scandal for a little wind
Dramatic much?
Not a good day for paddle boardinng.
That’s a stiff breeze down here in west tasmania
One time we get stuck in a storm pushing us to shore. We turn face to the wind at 90 degree form the dock put the engine at full power and we still hit the dock had. We would had need an engine about 3 time bigger. He en up having to dock there on a private property even if it was not our and came back after the storm pass. Thanks for that guy to let us use if dock, not that he had a chose even at full power the boat would not move forward. we were stuck there.
A bit breazy eh?, when you are bare pole saling at anchor you know its windy?
How are they balancing on that boat
With those big balls
I think I’d start up my engine to be able to push somewhat against the wind and if all hells comes loose have a small glimmer of hope so save myself and my vessel.
id go back inside and sleep and hope she didint break free lol
Did poster mean Chatham, Mass and Cape Cod, Mass, not PA?
thank you for sharing this harrowing experience.
I just wonder what sailors do to protect their boat:
Information about mourning/ anchored to withstand such forces. ❤
I would rather be at sea than worry about the idiots around me.
Are you kiddin me? Why panicing? Everyting is ok. Just a little wind…
As has been stated, check everything you can and be ready to take action! At least turn engine over and maybe leave running, main thing is to keep a bloody good eye out for anything that may deteriorate the situation, from onboard to on the water, shouldn't have to list the obvious!😂
What was the windspeed and how much scope did you have out. That is horrendous
The bimini and the helm's cover add many pounds of wind power on your anchor. And if the anchor is gone, then, the bimini will act like a ..bimini! And when you will try to take out the helm's cover and …arrange it, start the engine, e.t.c. you will be already in touch with the closest boat to yours.
