  1. What a beautiful rendition of my favorite Deep Purple song. Coverdale's voice has aged wonderfully, only getting more expressive and evocative as he's grown older, and bringing new dimensions to songs he sung as a younger man.

And let's get this clear right up front: This is not a cover of a Deep Purple song. It's a remake. David Coverdale sang on the original track when he was with Deep Purple. For those interested it's off the Deep Purple album "Burn," which has always been my favorite Purple album since I was a teenager (or to say it another way, for over 40 years.)

It always gets me when people think David Coverdale's career began with Whitesnake, which I've heard some people dismiss as an 80s hair band. You can like Whitesnake's music, or you can hate it, but one thing you can't argue with: David Coverdale's rock pedigree is impeccable. He earned his place up on that stage. If only so many of the other musical acts of the 80s had a background as deep as Coverdale's there might have been more great music from it to remember.

  3. Englund is "the one and only constant," not "Can't Stand ta know ya, Constantinople." Thanks Anthony Hopkins (Turkish Greek Jesuit Baltic Slavic Welsh).
