I got to say you guys are really living life.
You two are special and your way of life adventure each day makes you more special. Highest Blessings
Do is see a dutch flag on magic carpet?
Why is that?
I didn’t hear anything about Vincent Van Gogh who painted some of his great works in Arles. But I love your journey!
You journey North reminds me of the book Isabel And The Sea by George Millar who sailed most of your route but Southward in 1948 when Europe was still in ruins. They had lots of 'fun' with Barges, Lock Keepers and weeds clogged in the prop.
I shall be enthusiastically following your journey (as always) to ACTUALLY SEE this river/canal route but some 72years after the young George and his wife Isabel passed that way in their yacht called Truant.
Não tem como Amar esses relatos e imagens. Parabéns! continuem nos alimentando os sonhos com suas vivências.
This is probably the most expensive way to travel
I have just added your channel 2 days ago and am loving every minute of them. I admire you for taking on such a journey. You are doing an awesome job with describing your daily adventures. I look forward to watching each of you videos. I'm watching all of them and looking forward to catching up with you. Please keep up the good work. I live on the coast of North Carolina USA.
Hi guys just stumbled across your channel and am hooked on the first episode. I’m coming with you up the river 😂
I laughed so much when you opened the umbrella. Thanks for that!
Great video, question, what about keel, we have not foldable and it is 2,35 m. Is it possible to navigate from Germany to south of France by canals? Thank you very much
hi ! what charts you used to know the maximum depth? my sailboat draft is 1.80m …. not sure i can do it form med to NL or BE ? navionics is not showing depth 🙁
guys, the exploring alternatives channel belongs to whom?
I just discovered your Youtube Channel today, June 16, 2020. I've just started this Playlist of your journey north to the North Sea. I've enjoyed so much this particular episode.
I lived in Arles for four months the magical summer of 1974 when I was 20 years old as a LDS missionary. It's there that I perfected my knowledge of the French language living with a fellow missionary from Amiens France who became a life long friend.
He passed away 10 years ago. Since then, his youngest daughter visits us in Atlanta and tells stories of how her dad would always drive them through Arles to show them where we lived. She grew up hearing him tell stories of that magical summer.
You video gave me a peek as to what it looks like in winter… Later that year, I would begin a five month stay for the Winter of '75 in Lyon. I can't wait to see your journey northward. Thanks for taking us along with you.
That umbrella hahah
Can you use solar power on your boat?
I wonder if you could devise a way to use your small 4hp as a kicker motor. If you could lower that into the water, might give some small boost. hehe
I love Arles. Such a Beautiful town. I'm brand new to your channel and I'm really enjoying your storytelling so far 😊
You are a lot braver than I am to attempt an up river journey on the Rhône with a 20 hp engine. Was the Canal du Rhône à Sète closed because if you had entered it via le Grau du Roi, just to the west, you could have made it to Beaucaire with no current in probably much less time? I was curious as to why you stayed very near the center of the river. Aren´t the currents much less pronounced closer to the outer edges or to the banks? We have enjoyed watching your journey.
A sailing video on inbound waterways is interesting! When you are going to the North Sea, don't miss the Baltic.
how deep is the keel ..can it lift up into the boat?
I really enjoyed that. I shall follow your progress with interest. Thanks!
Thank you for letting me live vicariously through your wonderful adventures! I just discovered you today and have watched 4 episodes already! It is helping immensely with my pandemic claustrophobia! Be safe and have fun!!
I have really enjoyed watching your sailing adventures , music and narration of your travels…. I am ending my aviation career in a couple years and wanted to sail around the globe (I was a pilot in the US Navy for 20 years and did sail around the world on an Aircraft Carrier, but that doesn’t count)… I have been looking at Mono-Hulls, Catamarans, and Trawlers… You two make everything look so easy….
Hi guys! I follow a lot of sailing YouTube channels and I love yours 🙂 you and your stories seem real (I know they are, but other channels create that Barbie and Ken sensation that just don’t attract me in the long run), and the way you narrate makes me feel in the Magic Carpet with you. Wish you all the best. Thanks!
After coming across you channel we have gone back to the beginning. Very relaxing to watch, photography and drone footage amazing. Cheering you on from Western Australia.
The logbook entry date notation is a good way to establish time and place for the viewer since the videos are about 5-6 months behind your current day. No concerns here as I ‘m still catching up on your artistic presentations. Thanks very much!
Thanks for sharing the date. It’s funny but we watch sailing channels and no one ever really says the date approximately when the video takes place. Keep up the good work, fair winds and thanks for sharing your adventures. Best wishes and please keep informing us of the dates your sailing.., in so many ways that is so helpful to know when to sail and what the conditions will be like!!! 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👌❤️👍
Your prose makes these videos thoroughly enjoyable!
What app are you running on your phone for nav? Awesome trip, guys!!
I was where the large barge was in 1985.
Here in the states, a popular boating pastime is the Great Loop which consists of the Mississippi River and the Great Lakes / Saint Lawrence Seaway. While commercial ships utilize the Saint Lawrence River between the Great Lakes and the high seas, most pleasure boats are able to transit on the Erie Cana & Hudson River between Buffalo & New York City. The only hindrances for sailboats are low bridges in the vicinity of Chicago and the Erie Canal. Other than that the lowest fixed bridges on the Mississippi River have a vertical clearance of 60 ft / 18 m.
I became enamored with CruisingTheCut; told my sister about it, then she said, you’ve started something! We’re going to rent a boat and cruise the French canals! Which brought me here and I’m so glad I stumbled onto it. This was an eye opener; especially when compared to the English canals. This is absolutely lovely. You’re a lucky couple, so I think I’ll follow this adventure of yours. Thanks very much;)
Maya & Aladino: I happened upon your videos a while ago, about the time just prior to your announcing you bought a new boat! I had been watching each new episode and then realized that I could "catch up" by visiting the Channel and start from the beginning – which is what I did. At this point in time I am "with you" as you begin traveling the Rhone River. How exciting for ME as you ventured into Arles because I have traveled from my home in the Eastern U.S. and visited there (along with many other towns in France) over the years. Your commentary, the beautiful footage, the pace at which you travel and film, coupled with the beautiful music that accompanies each episode, is – in a word – FABULOUS. The dignity and respect that you show to one another AND to your audience is so evident and I, for one, appreciate it very much. Please continue just as you have been. As one commenter said: "You two are special." And I agree. 🙂 All the best, take care as you travel!
as always, your story telling is even more awesome than your awesome videography!
Y'all are the realest sailing channel on youtube
