  1. MASTERFUL in many ways sir. Thanks! For those watching that haven't heard his books on Audible, give them a listen. They're narrated by him and are absolutely brilliant. If you happen to read this captain, a how-to book on sailing/passage making would be most welcome!! You certainly have a knack for instruction.

  2. The smooth jazz is lovely. The ocean and boat images inspiring and soothing. I also find I have a special affinity to your anchor. Hummm.

  3. Well I couldn’t name my boat Thelonious because you beat me to it 🙂 (so I named it Monk – not as good but honoring another monk as well) Always enjoy your videos and as we’re around the same age they inspire

  5. Christian, many thanks. I asked my 12yo son where he heard about the kicking strap ? he said Christian Williams said that this is how the queen of England would call it….. He is 12. we will remember you the next 50-60-70-80 years. thanks for all the videos.

  6. This is beautiful. For the last few years, since I read “Alone Together” for the first time, you have allowed me to sail when I couldn’t, due first to cancer, then to travel restrictions. One day. In the meanwhile, I listen to “Alone Together” or “Philosophy of Sailing” at bedtime, and watch sailing videos, yours and a few others. If you would, I’d be exceptionally grateful if you could upload a version of this without the music. I know how much you love Thelonious Monk, but no music beats the music of sailing itself. 🙂

  7. Loved it! This is a work of art! I hope you were able to monetize it considering you used copyrighted material. I do similar videos with my dogs and youtube hates me!
    fuck the communists!
    Peace

  8. Brought back memories of sailing on SF Bay in my Catalina 22. Usually had some nice jazz tracks playing on the cassette deck – perfect! Thanks Christian, for these wonderful videos!

  9. Thanks again Captain Christian for another late night enjoying your sailing adventure. The music is great. You and Thelonious Monk, a fantastic combination.

  10. You've inspired me to learn how to sail. My goal is to singlehandedly make it to Hawaii like you did. If I can do that comfortably, I'd like to try something further after that.

  11. Santa Monica is my favorite place in the whole world. When I would walk along the park my eyes poured over the ocean. Seeing majestic sunsets was the highlight. It cast a fiery river of orange over the sea as it went down and filled the whole sky with a buzzing orange light that faded to reds and pinks. I remember seeing Sailboats in the distance. I often wondered what they were up too; or who the hell was out there having such a damn good time without me! I may have seen you Christian sailing peacefully on a peaceful day. Thank you so much for taking us all along sailing with you. It seems like a break from the real world. You have wisdom pouring out of you and it's fun to catch them as your videos play on. Love the stuff keep it coming!

  12. What I wouldn't give to do this. I do not come close to your knowledge and experience of sailing and I know how important both are to do what you are doing. And of course you have made it so much fun and so interesting. The wheels are turning.

  13. Thanks Christian, I'm in Vermont it's raining 2.22.22, 32 degrees and losing our snow pack quick. More to come though, after this thaw…CLIMATE CRISIS strikes again!.
If you ever sail up to Vermont I would love to day sail with you on Lake Champlain, let me know! I've got experience sailing a Hobie 16'er but that was exhilarating as heck. Hiking out in the trapeze line and flying a hull is sheer heaven, only if I don't go too far and capsize.
    Safe sailing, Mark

  14. Thanks, Christian! Love the vibes here, especially when 'Round Midnight started playing. There's just something special about being alone in the middle of the ocean at night.

  15. Gawd, you can not go wrong with Thelonious Monk – is that where the boat name is derived from? I had wondered.
I have noticed previously the (non)Gerry Can holders inboard of the shrouds. I approve because the deck is less obstructed, I wonder about raising the weight that much further above the water line. Shame there is not wasted space somewhere down lower, at least for the water jugs. Just a random observation.
The camera on the gimbaled stove was brilliant, I do not know if I have seen that done before.

  16. I researched Mr. Williams. Quite an accomplished man! Such a rich and seemingly fulfilling life…peaceful, contemplative and assuring. Thoroughly enjoying your videos Sir!

  17. Love jazz and dig this vibe! Next could you choreograph some scintillating sailing set to 'In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida'? You don't need to change the name of your ship, either. Cheers!

  18. Love your taste in music! Love the gimbaled camera shots in the cabin at night. You got it made! Solo sailing on the wide open seas! 👍
