You guys did a smart thing because you guys got a captain to help with your navigation on your first seaTrail
Bravo!!! Congrats on busting out of the bay. Now onto distant shores, my friend.
Learning something new everyday.
How did Nancy do with the offshore sailing? I noticed she didnt say much after you got out there.
Keep them coming…your story is getting more interesting with each episode.
Wonderful video! Loved the offshore sailing and the exciting music that went with the adventure. This is really looking like some fun times.
Take the fenders off the side decks – they are a trip hazard. Put them in a locker or below decks, but you need those side decks clear. You do not want somebody going overboard, it ruins the sailing … 😉
We sail our 42 offshore all the time. Great boat f/ overnight sails. A little weather breaks up montity of claim sails, & washes off decks. Bahamas, Dry Tortugas…
Good thought to hire Capt to walk you thru the trip & boats performance.
We all have to start somewhere… just get your sea legs.
Next trip. No captain. Take the family to Redfish for the night. Anchor close in out of the waves. You will feel protected plus you will have other boats around you. Remember your boat is very capable of Texas weather. Also you can always motor. If the weather picks up, and your uncomfortable with sailing, then motor. You will gain confidence in the boat. It’s time to leave the hired captain behind and you become the captain. Another suggestion is to find another boat going out and ask to shadow them. Even for the day. Or you could follow the racers around the course with interference. They are out every week. I guess my overall point is use the boat. It’s they only way to gain confidence.
I know the waves look smaller than they actually are…is that a wave crashing over your bow?
The waves were so much fun … wait until she discovers jumping on the foredeck in time with the waves.
LOL, your daughter sounds like me. I want to experience rough seas. As long as I'm prepared enough, I feel I should trust the vessel.
Where did you dock that first night?
