Ah yes, the feeling you get when the sails are up and you turn off the engine, then realizing the boat keeps moving in complete silence, best part of sailing
Take a wrap before pulling jib out. Just a good habit to get into. Get some sailing gloves.
Sailing is all to me! Moving in calm water will be nice!

Have you gone into the settings on your depth gauge? It sounds as if it is offset to show depth below the keel, not actual water depth. Either setting is fine, but you do need to know which you're operating with.
🤔I wonder…is the other boat faster because they have their sails in a better position to catch more wind? Maybe it’s not motor-sailing? Also, doesn’t the sail material and shape, weight of the boat, how clean the bottom of the boat is, effect the speed you are able to go? I’m not a sailor, but from what I have learned so far, I believe those are all factors.
