I want to book in ncl haven. Seperate pool area, separate restaurant and easy on off boarding. But mostly we travel with inlaws and the book regular cabins and are not allowed in haven
I thin the YC is worth it. However, the price, while still much lower than the Haven, has gone way up in the few years since I was in it. Now i book Aurea balcony, which includes a basic drink package and the saunas. On the Seashore it also includes a separate restaurant and bar in the Aurea sub deck.
Totally worth it, but I’m bias 🙂
In regards to the alcohol in Yacht Club. You automatically get the highest drink package ( higher than their normal packages )AND you can use it everywhere on the ship. You get to keep the slippers 🙂 and the internet worked great.
I almost forgot….. Amazingly fast and free room service, whenever the restaurants etc are open. Pizza every night at 10:30-11pm at night 🙂
Mike & I are still going to get you & Markus a yacht club room in the future just so you can experience it once 🙂
As a stuck up Crystal cruiser .. I could NEVER do without my butler at my beck and call. 😉
No commercial. Looking at the prices you're showing us, I always lament the fact that I paid over $5000.00 for a balcony cabin on the Royal Princess for a week and toured the Mediterranean from Athens to Barcelona, with points/excursions in between. I guess it was because I was in there by myself. I'm glad that you did a review of those new single balcony cabins (can't remember the ship, I'm sure YOU do…lol). Oh, well, live and learn!! But what a BUMMER!!! 😉 I'm glad Chili's feeling better! Poor baby!!!! Okay, I'm done. lol
Been up there and loved it
People drive three hundred thousand dollar cars is it necessary?
No but if you have cash to burn
Light up,
I certainly don't have money to waste I need to save up for my cruise holidays.
Cost benefit analysis changes with perspective…

Thanks for the video Morgan 👍
Thanks Morgan, excellent topic! It's what I've been thinking about lately. It's our 35th Anniversary this year, and we're wanting to do something special. I really wanted to do MSC Yacht Club. Until now. Now, I'm thinking about it more. It does seem like a neat experience. And, it's a lot less than NCL's Haven or Carnival Havana suites. But, with the money that I'd save by doing a regular cabin and Aurea Experience, you're right, we could eat in the specialty restaurants every night! And now, I'm reading Paul's comments. Oh boy, decisions, decisions.
We really enjoyed the YC and frankly, is the only way we would book MSC. Yes, the “premium drink pkg” is not only included in the YC bar, but in all bars around the ship and on Ocean Cay (their private island). The suite is not particularly special, but having the intimacy and upgraded service of the pool area, the lounge, the restaurant, the concierge, a dedicated YC area on the private island, expedited embarkation and disembarkation a d more, while still being able to enjoy all the bells and whistles of the big ship is worth the extra $ to me. If you wouldn’t partake in those amenities then it may not be for you.
on ncl you have a butler as well when in the haven. they give you a mobile phone for the ship and you can call him from anywhere. its hardly used but its available.
Was in the HAVEN on the Breakaway for a Baltic cruise. We got a 2 bedroom suite- cost an arm and a leg! It was wonderful! The food in the restaurant was the best I have had on a cruise ship. The Haven had small excursions- 10 people to a minivan! Didn’t use the Butler much- he did wear the typical suit for a butler. The concierge service helped us numerous times. If I ever sail NCL again- it will be in the HAVEN!
Please try the Yacht Club. You will probably come away with a whole different opinion. It's wonderful. Your Butler makes sure you have a fantastic time and you don't want for anything. Service is second to none 24/7. You can still go to the main buffet as well as the Yacht Club Buffet and/or Restaurant. You can also eat in the main dining room if you prefer that. Everything you get outside the Yacht Club is available to you plus all the Yacht Club luxuries. Try it.
Thanks Morgan I got a lot from your analysis of the relative value of MSC Yacht Club, something I have long wondered about. Notwithstanding some valuable contributions below from other viewers I think I am in your camp and lean towards taking the balcony cabin and adding the options that we want.
I love Sunday Sofatime live. I enjoy interacting with you and the community. But…I also love prerecorded Sofatime because you're such a great story teller. I feel like I was right there with you by the end. A balance of both would be awesome
Most important point……book the perks extra…but NOT be in the YC private area….which is the number one reason to book the YC. There is your answer, if you don't find the private area worth it, then don't book it. I personally do. 🙂
am sorry no offence to you, however Its all about exclusivity and treated with attention and immediately, I cannot imagine travelling in the normal balcony suite after travelling in yacht club and haven.. So its not about the way you look at the value comparison, I am not even sure if any one who is not used to premium treatment will be able to appreciate those small small differences.
The peace and quiet and the service in the YC makes it worth it for us, particularly in hot weather for relaxing on a sun bed but yes the room is only a small upgrade.
More like this please Can you compare World Cruises like this
yes i want to try the MSC Yacht Club. i hope this year it will happen…
You can get any drink anywhere on the ship, including the champagne bar! And chocolate martinis
I don't agree. The Yacht Club is quiet and less traffic. We loved it!
My perspective: I agree luxury and value are subjective. What I love about MSC YC is the privacy and exclusivity of the ship within a ship concept. I cruise (or vacation in general) to relax. Nightclubs, discos, floor shows, live entertainment, etc. are great offerings, but I can both live with or without them. A piano or combo in one of the lounges suits me just fine. I have compared the Yacht Club and NCL's Haven and I prefer the YC hands down. They are both roughly the same in what they offer, but I have found that some of the rooms on some of the ship's Haven areas are small. VERY small. Surprisingly small. Plus don't get me started on the microscopic size of some of the Haven's balconies. The 300 or so square footage of the YC Deluxe suites is fine for me and my partner. Some Haven rooms aren't even close to that. Haven rates can be significantly higher than those of the Yacht Club, for virtually the same amenities and the same itinerary, so everything else being equal, I will always choose MSC YC.
We kept our slippers. Pretty sure no one wants to wear used slippers. 😆 eww
We stayed in an Aurea suite on the Devina and loved it. You have anytime dining in a separate part of the dining room and excellent service, plus express check-in which was great. We are looking into trying a YC interior room. I’d love the private pool, dining room, and beach on the private island.
I dont agree with your analysis. I have been on MSC in both Aurea and Yacht Club and the inclusions are far from being the same. The inclued drinks in Yacht Club are at a different level to what is included in Aurea which are far more limited. In addition the Yacht Club Suite is almost 50% larger than the basic balcony suite you compared to. In addition the priority boarding is literally priority board just when you join the cruise. Priority boarding in Yacht Club is priority boarding and disembarkation at every port and the priority boarding inludes a lounge similar to an airport lounge. The butler service I agree is not so necessary but they will do just about anything for you you ask but we prefer to do things ourselves. The views from the Yacht Club Restaraunt and private lounge/bar are miles ahead of anything else that you can get in the rest of the ship and are more relaxed. When you talk about luxury suites it depends on your likes – personally I prefer minimilast which is more like MSC Yacht Club. The bathroom is not huge but is much bigger than the bathroom in the basic balcony cabin you compared to and storage space is much better. I would compare Yacht Club to Business Class on a plane and Aurea is more like premium economy. In business class the main thing you are paying for is the extra space and in yacht club as I mentioned you are getting about 50% extra space. Notwithstanding this on MSC seaside they have a very good 2 bedroom suite at the front of the ship which is two bedroom, two bathroom and lounge/dining area – this suite in my opinion is far better value than the yacht club suite – it is much larger and still cheaper but with Aurea experience. At least in my view comparing a balcony cabin in aurea with a yacht club suite – if I can afford teh yacht club is better value for money any day. One thing I would say is that Yacht Club Suites on the Seaside are much nicer than the suites on the grandiosa.
How can you rate or judge the value of something you have never experienced? Try it you might like it. FYI Yacht Club passengers can use all areas of the ships and drinks are included all over the ship as is the ice cream. YC is a very peaceful place and we love it.
I am finding the MSC webpage to be problematic. As far as I can tell, the MSC Orchestra doesn't have Yacht Club or it's just suites. Not all suites are YC or are they? The suites are double the price of regular balcony.
(Nov. Update) i think they changed the pricing. Total Price for Aurea was 2600$, Total price for Yatch club was 2800$ on mine. Just the premium drink upgrade (12$USD Drinks Free VS. 6$USD) and Unlimited Mini Bar which includes (beer, liquor, water, sparkling water, snacks, fruits, juice) All this made the extra 200$ worth it. Also our butler brought us coffee, fruits, pastries every morning. Also the 24 Pizza service was Free with yatch club.

Actually the Aurea drinks package is not the same as the Yacht club, you are very limited as to what is available whereas the Yacht club is everything, everywhere except bottles of wine and champagne but you can get glasses of each.
I love it when someone does a review of a thing they have never tried.
You need to start reviewing cars, pherhaps airlines, electronics just about anything by reading the brochure. Are you some kind of idiot that is bad at math? If you are going to review something, pherhaps you should actually experience it. I can't wait for you to start reviewing restaurants by reading the menus and comparing it to the menu and Mc Donalds and saying Mc Death is better because they both have meat and lettuce. You are truly an idiot and an example of what is wrong with people in society today.
I have no trouble paying for the ship within a ship, but the solo penalty is disgusting.
Most of what you said about benefits was wrong. As a yacht club member you receive all the perks of first three levels PLUS yacht club perks. If you would not spend your money for the experience. It seems biased to me. If you like cruising at the lowest level, I feel you shouldn’t give a opinion on luxury travel. Just sound like jealousy and hateraid to me. 😂😂
we book yacht club.. for may 7th… see how it go
I think it is only fair for you to cruise in the YC before telling people it isn’t worth it. Your video missed many highlights of Yacht Club cruising. Please try it and THEN review it. You know, for credibility.
I am older now and not as mobile so I like the fact that I can get on the ship right away and they everything is compact so I do not have to travel in a large ship
I'm pretty much a redneck and creature comforts are not that important to me, however I HATE waiting in lines…Aurea may say it includes priority boarding, and perhaps it used to, but not anymore from what I've seen. Not to mention lines for everything else onboard. To me Yacht Club means not having to wait in long lines while enjoying my limited vacation time, food is better too.
Yeah you totally missed the point of Yacht Club ..
