That was probably the most objective and helpful “before you buy” video I have seen in a good long while. Thank you very much. I hope this comment finds you both safe and in good health.
Great set of points to consider……….would ability to swim be included? Lolol. Cheers
This is all so true. Such an informative video, thanks for sharing guys xx
The sea is open to all and merciful to none
Another excellent commentary! Luv ya work! Thanx.
The banners were little to fast for me. The spacebar was my friend 😉
🙂
Reef one, save two.
If a mistake is made, or you screw up royally and look like a fool you can always blame it on systemic racisms, white privilege, bigotry, and on that horrible "orange" huddled glorf man.
Brilliant video
Bravo good film…we like to give some encouragement: Just start, you learn on the way! One rule: "Always respect nature!" Become part of nature and set sail when "mother earth' invites you. We started 21 years ago covered now 120'000 nautical miles and got 6 children on the way. We never owned a house or car and still living on the same boat, the TOPtoTOP Expedition-Sailboat Pachamama; she went through an "evelution from a baby to an adult". Hope to meet Kittiwake on the Ocean once? Good winds Dario&Sabine with Salina, Andri, Noé, Alegra, Mia, and Vital
i would like to see if i like the cruise life, where can i find boats to crew on to learn?
Thinking very hard about this. I’m a software engineer, and planning on being able to work remote near Seattle🤞. My biggest concern is having decent wifi
What is the boat?
Keep a close eye on those Tayana 37 chainplates. I smile.
Lived aboard for over 15 years 30000 miles offshore. Greatest adventure !
Can you be the voice in the GPS in my car… Please?
great job…

I'm 63. I will heed your advice.
Thanks ☺️
SUPER.. SUPER..
LOVE joy peace wealth & abundance from Thailand .
Unfortunately I can only leave one thumbs up!! This is one of the most valuable Utubes for the new sailor I've ever seen. Thanks for your great and very perceptive observations.
It is good to have a handy buddy or pro to work alongside you to refit an older boat after purchase, otherwise it is very tough and there will be endless mistakes; but I wouldn’t hire a pro, give him or her a list and walk away- do it so that you become proficient in every task and system.
For safety always be thinking: where am I? What is around me? What is this task about? What tools or systems are at play here? What could happen here? What might go wrong? How serious would that be? How can I avoid that? STOP until you ha e a complete plan that is safe.
The opposite, from a tired or thoughtless, or overly eager person is the jump straight in to a task and within a minute has been cut, hit, burned, electric shocked, or has hit the boat into something.
Think first.
Excellent
Love you guys! Hope to see you cruising again in the future!
This should be 'required watching' to anyone that is searching 'boat life/ living on a boat/getting started sailing/etc" It nails it 👍🏾
Two top tips are.
1.. Never buy a boat, have a friend who has bought a boat.
2….. See number 1. 😆
Shes right about learning to sail but it wont cost much hang around marinas and get to know people their are always boat owners needing crew to move the boat and some that simply need crew for a day sail you can learn what you need and deside if you even like sailing
…. never ever buy a sailboat only ,… buy a motorsailer !!!! … with 2 good caterpillars…
Don't Do "THIS"? What is the single "THIS"? Your list goes on and on. The "This" word means just one single item on your list.
Great helpful info! Thanks for sharing.
My biggest mistake was forgetting to tie down my couch before going to sleep.
Once you have a boat in mind learn everything you can about that boat by joining the owners Facebook group so you can prepare for any common breakages after you have bought that boat .
Thank you. Been looking for something like this
Some great advice here. Well done!
THIS is what I've been looking for.
Thank you 🇺🇸
Great 👍
Great 👍
This is outstanding content.
Have respect for the ocean… You can only drink so much of it.
Living the dream!
This was a very helpful video. Thank you
Don't let the mistakes get in the Way of the Way Maker. We are a particle of His Life, Jesus, "Nothing shall by any means harm you, if you believe." Includes dying, think of drinking sour milk, will hurt your feelings, but will not harm you. Bad bacteria does not grow in milk. Love Is what makes Our faith work."There is no Law against Love," "God is Love."

It's funny to hear about "high price" in sailing, after knowing price fore flying 😅
1. Get in good physical condition and stay that way.
2.Get used to living with as little as possible.
3. Eat healthy, simple foods.
4. Have a stable income either through Investments or being a digital nomad.
5. Learn every system on your boat and how to repair it. Redundancies.
1:26 What is a cruising kitty anyways? What does owning a pet have to do with considering buying a sailboat as a liveaboard? This makes no sense, and then the video fails to even discuss the topic of pets aboard your boat.
