#cargoship #maersk #dayinthelife

  1. I am in New Zealand 🇳🇿 I am an ex chef, how would you go about getting a job as chef on a container ship? What certificates do you need as a seafarer on a container ship for a chef.Where would you apply? How many months are you away at a time, how long do you get a break before you go to sea again?Salary is there a link I can look up on a website?GR8 video.

  2. So beautiful! I definitely want to be Merchant Marine! Going to attend A&M Texas Galveston, Maritime Academy. Finally decided for 3rd mate now. Though, I'd prefer to not listen to my mates music standing watch lol.

  3. Here in Europe sailing is pretty much dead. Companies prefer cheaper labor from Asia, so getting a job is super hard. Been at naval academy but dropped out to work as a nurse instead, all the old timers told me it ain't like it used to be in the old days. Happy to have met the love of my life at university and wouldn't trade my decision away, but would love to go to sea some day in the future. The love for sailing will never die I guess.

  4. Hi ! one doubt I have is: I have seen different videos of this kind where sometimes they say they make manual work between the 4 hours watches; other times they don`t do that work……..do you do manual work in between your watching hours? does everybody do that work in between? or what is that dependent on?

  5. you are lucky because you are an american.a greek chief officer is working 24/7 in port(he will rest few hours after the departure of the vessel until his 4-8 watch) and AT LEAST 12 hours per day at sea except sundays and few holydays that he is working ONLY 8 hours like you!the food is rubish because we have ONLY filipino cook that he don't know how to cook european simple foods like pizza, spagetti, pies etc. and the quality of the food is for garbage because GREEK SHIPOWNERS ARE FAMOUS CHIPIES…
my clear salary(after the stupid deductions) as a chief officer in a cargo vessel is around 6000 euro per month but when i am at home i don't get any money and my contract is 7 months, meaning if i want to go home earlier i have to pay my flight tickets plus my reliever's tickets…
what is your salary?greetings from the sunny athens-greece.

  6. I have been single for almost a decade now after 13yrs of marriage & together for 15yrs but i have been seriously thinking about doing something like this as i’d like to see what it’s like.
