1. The 500GT limit is more complex than first appears, and I'm sure to have gotten some of this wrong… BUT:

   The Maritime Labour Convention (2006) aka MLC section 5.1.3 requires CERTIFICATION (Maritime Labour Certificate and Declaration of Maritime Labour Compliance aka DMLC) for commercial vessels of 500+GT if they are are to be used internationally or between port states. HOWEVER yachts under 500GT are still expected to be COMPLIANT they just don't need CERTIFICATION, but evidence of compliance can be demanded for example if they are within 60 miles of a UK safe haven, or by the flag state.

   There is also a SECONDARY issue: crew costs. It is quicker and easier to qualify as a Masters or Engineer on vessels up to 500GT, those qualifying 500GT to 3000GT is another level-up the ladder, and over 3000GT the qualification requirements are more arduous still. Arduous means more hours at sea, being stationed on larger vessels, etc., as a result the crew with the "bigger" qualifications get paid considerably more… so a 501GT yacht will cost a LOT more in crew costs than a 499GT yacht, and at that finding crew will be that bit more difficult.

3. This is a very good primer for the Sanlorenzo brand! It's a bit of a shame that the very exciting SX range was omitted, though. SX yachts have some overlaps with the newest Bluegame BGX boats. But that's because both are also Zuccon International designs and are effectively the same brand. That said, their layouts and space usage are really quite unique and a bit hard to emulate elsewhere in this category of "pocket" superyachts.

4. The recent uptick in yacht sales have been driven by dog money.

5. San Lorenzo is an amazing shipyard, fantastic designs. Seven Sins looks amazing plus they have that tender garage cum beach club that is much better than what other builders do.

   Just out of curiosity, if one where to become a yacht broker, where would one be based?

8. I had the pleasure of going aboard and filming Zazzazu II at FLIBS last year, and all I can say is wow! That thing was gorgeous, unique, sleek, and many more positive adjectives. The silver exterior of her definitely stole the show in the used line up. If I ever have super yacht money, it's gotta be a Sanlorenzo!

12. I have oftened wondered why it is often mentioned that a yacht is under 500GT. I have always assumed that it is a class and regulation issue but would like to know exactly the reason.

14. David, you might find this amusing. A couple of days ago I was in a Supermarket and heard the theme song from your channel. As I have seen every single episode you have published I am very familiar with it. I looked up and saw a gentleman intently looking at his phone, I assume his wife was doing the shopping. I watched him for a moment until he let out a big sigh and gave a small shake of his head and put his phone in his pocket. I had to approach him. All I said was "David Seal"? He laughed and said "Yeah, just dreaming". I responded with, "I know the feeling". We laughed and parted ways. I should point out that this was not in some boating Mecca like Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. This was in the central Indiana where there is nothing but corn and soy beans. You should be proud that your videos have made it so far and are influencing so many people. Not that this gentleman or myself could ever buy a yacht. But we can dream and give ourselves a break from reality, if only for 7 or 8 minutes Thank you David.

23. I, for one, would like to know more about the 500 GT criteria, as well as hopefully seeing some more SanLorenzo yachts, especially if you can get the 62 – 70 meter range (or close to it). I'm hoping you're able to get some charter yachts toured for us also. 🙂
