Did Yabá's new smile make you smile as well? We hope so!
Enjoy your weekend everyone! Xx Ben & MP
Learn from Duka and Roberta , invest in a new engine now as the old one will end up to be your Achilles heel.
How many of those hand planners do they go thru a year?
😁😁😁👍
…… just wondering how much all this cost?
Can you believe the problems the stern didn't break on the (boat yard trip) Yikes Ya'll are geting it done
Dang Ben! You got the upside down hammer swing rockin! Good on you!
I actually had a dream about you. I was telling you how although this has cost as much as a new boat this boat you will know from head to toe and know that it's not just structurally sound but feel it's a part of you.
Weird that I should dream about it and be talking to you.
Well done. Getting it to the yard was a minor miracle. I’m so admiring the skills of the team. Very old tech but fantastic to see. A question. Why are you not painting the edges of the side planks. Is that not a weak area for water exposure?
Nice progress. Things are moving along nicely.
The sound of the nails been hit in the wood, is fantastic. It is like music. Still enjoining the joy in your voices when you reaches a new phase in the construction. you are doing a good job.
How the hell do MP and Ben endure the armchair experts?
I think you brought a rotten boat
Amazing using the old boat as a template to build a new one 😊😊
CUANDO ESTE TERMINADO, PARA CONSERVAR LA MADERA Y DURE TODA LA VIDA, EN EL CASCO Y LA CUBIERTA, YO ANTES DE PINTAR LO TERMINARIA CON RESINA Y 3 CAPAS DE FIBRA DE VIDRIO, QUEDARÍA PERFECTO
So Glad Duca and Roberta, introduced you guy's to us, your spirit and determination is inspirational, we're so proud of your accomplishments, and hard work you've done on Yaba, she'll be a wonderful home.
Guess we need to start a Go Fund me Page now for the new Turbo Diesel Engine, and Electrical System 16KW Lithium Battery, and Navigation Systems, 6-8 bilge pumps, all new Hallie Appliances, hydronic hot water system, Deep Freezers, and yes 3, Marine Air Conditioner's, no joke. Must RO Water Maker, along with Pix Plumbing throughout. And last but not least, New dynema roads, Sails, electric wench. Please Post your "WISH, DREAM LIST" so we all can contribute to this Dream Project.
While that boat is open like that i would have started painting all the wood with a wood sealer by the time everything is closed i would have had about 10 coats of seal on already.
The almost total rebuild of this boat was obvious to many from the first episode. Large, old, wooden, boat and sinking(!) are a combination of words you should flee from, not fall in love with. A fine choice if you want to rebuild a boat perhaps, but an incredibly foolish one if you want to go sailing. But of course love is blind. I’m sure it’s completion will be euphoric, as much from a sense of relief as joy.
You guys are practically building a whole new boat.. is it cost effective to do that? Or shouldn't you have considered buying a whole new boat?
Like many I'm also at the point where the discovery of more rot just makes me giggle – not in a mean way though – you guys were so lucky to actually make it to the yard without Yaba turning to dust and it's been nice to see the evolution of the work and the change in techniques based on the advice you've received. We'll done to you guys and everyone at the yard.
Great progress. Transom looks strong 💪🏻. Best wishes for continued success.
Hey guys I’m Brazilian love the channel I live in Florida the work you guys doing around my neck of the woods it would cost over $1 million here for sure
When I was a kid I sailed on a 40ish sail boat that tried to sink every time we took it out. Hull was like a giant spong. The owner hauled and over a few years replaced just about a ribs and planking. That’s the advantage of wood. Happy carpentering. This should be interesting.
😄😂🤣🤣🤣 using GREEN WOOD for planking. Guess you're in a rush to meet Davy Jones.
I have no idea what it will end up costing you to finish this entire project but I have to believe that you could probably have found a practically turn key boat that you could have sailed while taking care of smaller issues. Am I right or wrong?
ARE YOU GUYS GOING TO FIBERGLASS THE HULL ?? OR LIVE IT ON WOOD ??
how much is this "re-fit" gonna cost you guys? Thinking it would have been cheaper to just build new one?
Not sure if you have already considered it, but based on past videos of the engine room and other areas, you really should consider re-wiring your boat. I know it's an expensive job, but in the end, especially while the hull is still accessible, You almost have a new boat anyway. Very best wishes. Bill
It's great to see these older gentlemen going hard all day long. Cigarette in mouth, chainsaw in hand. Awesome.
I'm curious to learn what kind of wood was used on this boat originally. What made it rot so quickly and aggressively? And what kind of wood are you replacing it with? Will this be a big improvement over the original wood?.
Wood floats
The more I see of this restoration, the more I'm absolutely amazed you got this 200 miles south. Great project. Im so glad to see you doing this. Awesome project.
So fun watching Brazilian shipwrights are work
I notice you don't openly criticize the original builders and owners.Such conversations must have happened, however. Good for you keeping it all so positive!
👍🥰👍!!
I'm very happy for u guys. Hard work always pays off and Yaba will be everything you expect, and probably more!
how is this not a new boat
Excellent. Thank you . . .
I need a job can you help me please
Can ask how much is this rebuild costing..
The comment, " MP I thought the reason why we were here was like to prevent more holes for our boat but I think they not understand what we wanted", the line of YABA's existance, very well put by Ben.
