  1. My Dad loves this song. Being in the Navy at the time Hearing it in 1980 as a 5 year old. I wondered why my dad would get emotional. 2 years laters My parents would separate. For years. Never knew why loved this song. It reminded him of my mom. Sadly I lost Dad in 2018. Finally he is sailing with the Lord

  2. I love this song. It reminds me of my father who is now deceased. He loved to fish and spend time with the water whenever he could. Whenever I hear this song, I hope he's in his happy place.

  3. Romantic women should be treasured. Cross relieved a lot of ache as I ran hills in Virginia and North Carolina with guys in camouflage uniforms.

  4. Some friends have a little Flying Scot sailboat, fore-and-aft rigged, designed for lively sailing in mountain lakes, and the several times I've joined them it's been rapturous – far from shore and the world is in motion: air gusting, waves sparkling, hull heeling, lines vibrating, sale taut, clouds and sunlight passing above, other boats moving by across the water – the experience is invigorating, purifying, joyful, fully engaging, and everything on shore can wait till you're satisfied – not as serene as Chris Cross describes it, but talk about re-creation – of the whole soul, pretty much

  5. thank goodness i`ve found another human being who has the most favourit song in the world as me, i fell in love with this song when it came out in 1980 and i love it even more now, it just grows and grows on you, i,m 65 now and this piece of music is timeless, thanks for that. ; T;

  6. One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. Hands down, and certainly worthy of being anyone's favorite song Tasha. It is one of my favorites.

  7. Classic. As a kid I remember listening to this song, Sade, George Michael, Roberta Flack, Karen Carpenter and them. Some songs/voices calm and relax you all the way down. This song transports me all the way back to me and my mp3 player walking/biking home in the hazy golden hour from hanging with friends.

  8. It's the genius of Christopher Cross that evokes those emotions.
    Instrumentally, this song is beautiful.
    Lyrically there's a vulnerability mixed with hopefulness that hits you straight in the 'feels'…

  9. He was inspired by a visit with Joni Mitchell . She uses alternate tunings. with her guitars , Chris was just picking the open strings and that's the 3 note basis for the song

  10. I remember hearing this song when I was 6 yrs old. My Mom played it while she was cleaning and I was playing in the living room. Even back then I cried when I heard it. Everything about it is about as perfect as you can get with a song. I'm in my 40's now and it's still one of my favorite songs of all time, and I still cry when listening to it. It's just an amazing song and instantly connects with my soul. ❤️
