The best boat build channel on utube. No nonsense, no drama just great reality about the pros and cons of building a boat of this size and complexity. Kudos guys you can overcome anything with patience and lots of hard work.
What a great team you both make and some day soon your hard work will pay off with many years of great sailing to all the places you've dreamed about and the great thing is you've earned every moment you will be enjoying .
Why don't you install blow holes for release also instead of packaging use PVA
Where is uour vacuumed assist hose? Why do you use such?
Look at a hair dryer setup for smaller jobs like this. When I first hear of this I don't think it was enough heat. Don't use the second one but use the foam insolation to build a hot box.
For quick and dirty release on the bold use a layer peal-ply or scripts of vacuum bladder to reduce the amount you need to break free. Normally you would paint things so the finish of peal-ply don't need much if any sanding.
For a layup bench think about using a cover of shelf lament.
The total force on that plywood base at about -10psi with an area of 2' x 8' (2300 sq in) would be over 23000lbs…inward.
Another great video. Always a wealth of straight forward information. Thanks again and keep it up.
In 5 yrs they will be ready to sail, however, the boat will be to small or sometyhing and they will need to build another one. LOL…just kidding. I can't wait to watch all the wiring being strung through out the boat.
Wow two times a charm. Nice job on that.
You need a super strong flat build table!! Uhhh, get two engineered truss floor joists. They come in 16' lenths,,,then attach two 3/4th" construction grade ply sheets. Then you can use mdf melamine tops on that. Cheap, self leveling build table that can be built cheap! Between the the trusses just add 2×4 stiffners accross the bottom. Aircraft home builders build strong flat tables like this!!!
Yup….MONSTERS!! You guys are sick!! Literally the epitome of American ingenuity and grit. It was people, the likes of you 2, that founded and built this country. Sheer willpower is sexy a/f! Pain is weakness leaving the body! and you 2 are WINNING!! 💦💦💦💦💪💪💪💪💯💯💯💯
Good on you for eliminating the big hollow in the middle of your mold. Genius idea to fit the bag into the bottom cavity of the mold. An even better idea than I proposed last week.
You two are amazing!
With all the time you lost prepping for 2nd try, why not just hand layup with no vacuum? Could have been done already.
Congratulations on succeeding with that section of the dagger board, as always learning usually gives insight into improvements and this was again proved by upir upgraded way to make this. And better still it is somewhat educational for us that are watching and for that alone you should have our thanks and take joy in work well done.
Lessons learned the hard way, often last the longest. Looks like the applied the lesson well. Nice job team. Good to see that heater getting some use.
始终觉得这个船太薄,结构也不够牢固
I assume you need to close things in and get out of the shed. At that point, you can do more interior finish work. How long until you have to get out of the shed?
Not sure if you upgraded your rig, but was just watching another Cat build channel(rubyRose) and they are showing a factory vacuum bag on the hull. There's an obvious bucket between the hose from the bag and the vacuum pump. Both in/out hoses go in vertically which lets the suction flow easily, while any extra resin will fall to the bottom of the bucket(provided you don't fill a 5 gallon bucket) This will keep resin out of your pump.
It’s not surprising the panel broke. It was well over 20 tons of pressure. Nature hates a vacuum.
So with you have spent in time, rent of space, and materials, is it worth the money you have into the project? I enjoy the videos and experience gained from them
sexy just sexy. great job!
Really pleased for you both that one half of case is done
They say practice makes perfect.
Take care both of you and see you on the next video
How close to finishing are you guys?
Great Job you two! Way to stick with it!!! Which we knew you would! Stay Safe during the build, and it's great to see her come together!
Hello, can you share some information about keels? Like how heavy they should be, what material should use to fill and what percent of keel should be filled by this material?
Should you have a breather layer on the bottom too?
I did some fiberglassing on my boat…. It didn't look anything like yours 😂🤦
Nice job.
You guys are doing a awesome job with the boat build, and I love your shirt.
I'll come back when you hit the home straight……lol 😂 😂 👀
Great recovery, and kudos to you both for keeping a positive attitude in the face of adversity! That was a great learning opportunity, and your boat build will be that much better for it!
Congratulations, one more perfect piece, of your catamaran!
