6. I’ve always thought these big luxe-cruisers are not really cut out for sea state—best for glam parties in the marina. If you want to actually put to sea, aluminum or steel expolrer style ships without the fancy “transformers” compartments would make me feel safer.

16. QUESTION (ALL): Are we seeing more sinkings or is it just that eSysman and others are making us more aware of them?

17. I know that they make self inflating rafts that can just be dropped into the water and they start inflating on their own so that people can jump off and have an inflated raft to get into immediately.

    I also have seen where they used very large balloons filled with diesel attached to straps that were run under a ship to lift it from the ocean floor and up to the surface.

    I can not help wonder if they could build these ships so that at least the rooms below the water level and maybe the deck just above, can something like a container with a balloon or two big enough to fill up the room when inflated. That way if the ship starts to sink they can start inflating those balloons with enough pressure to keep the water from filling the rooms up and keep enough buoyancy so the ship stays on the surface long enough to get towed to shallow water or a dry dock or to where they can run slings under it and lift it out of the water.
