1. Try this in reverse: don't put the tiller all the way but more like 45°. I find this works better for my full keel c. archer. Anything more just causes drag and little steering. For the prop, once its clean you can use fat (or parfin, wax) to keep it in good growth free shape. Too bad we keep missing us on the water 😉

  2. Hey Guys. Love your Vlogs. Down to earth people. I use a a Garden Trough on the long handle to clean my yacht bottoms while she's in the water. You can Snorkel on the surface and do most of the hull. It's heaps easier than a small hand scrapper. Fair winds. Kiaora.

  3. Have you tried the scare off the flies trick with a ziplock bag with a few copper pennies and half full of water. Hang in areas where the flies are. Has something to do as a predatory nature to the flies when they see the copper pennies through the bag and water.

  4. Again, a very nice and peaceful episode,guys 👍🏻 Vera is growing sooooooo fast. Obviously, prop cleaning made a huge difference. ✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝 👙 🌞 ✨

  5. I was beginning to think that sweet island may have become your new home, yet infrastructure is required, the shipping of materials for yacht build, I had to leave the fairy 🧚‍♀️ tale lifestyle behind on the island and think logically and practically like a boat builder. Arr at least day dreams are free. ✨🌿🌸

  6. My first "learner" boat was a 34' Jeanneau Melody with a modified fin keel and a tiller. I enjoyed it very much as it was fairly easy to singlehand and small enough to maneuver in tight spaces. It had the Autohelm 2000 autopilot also and it was so easy to use. Arcticus brings back some fond memories of my earlier days of sailing. It is a joy to watch little Vera frolic on the island and the whole family enjoying themselves together. It's what life was meant to be.

  7. Wow, so flat. Bet that Jazz festival was good. The Vera cam was funny. Great to see the speed better now you cleaned the prop lol. Lovely sailing. Beautiful little Island. Love the vlog 🙂

  8. We have an hallberg-rassy monsun 31, so I think it sounds just like that when you talk about your new boat 😍. Good and stable boat in lots of wind, but a tricky one to manage in harbour

  9. We have just starting to watch your journey. Had to go back and now watching episode 167. Really enjoy how knowledgeable you both are. Can’t wait to catch up and see your new family.

  10. Noob stuff sailing away on an old sailboat you just bought without doing engine and prop stuff first. Or figuring the boat will tell you what she needs as you sail . LOL Great to see you all back on the water. 😀

  11. Hello to RAN sailing family from France. We had a problem with our daughter and lifejacket when she was similar age in 1969. My wife made one for daughter's favourite Rabbit. No problems afterwards. Have watched all your episodes, like your new little boat. Richard

  12. We enjoy every episode and we’ve seen them all! Check out Guy Clark’s song “Boats to Build” and I’ve written a song called “Our 4 Knot Yacht”. “ Our four knot yacht, she isn’t very fast. But that just makes our pleasure last.” That’s the first
Line of the chorus. All the best.

  13. Sett båten i revers til den får fart bakover. Så setter du giret i fri, da er det lettere å svinge båten til styrbord og babord mens båten siger bakover uten motorkraft.

  14. We had the same autohelm although a much older version and used to call it Buzby because it spent all its time making little buzz noises. Brought back that memory. 😊

  15. My son liked the boat because he could watch movies once we got going. He also liked waking up under way. Sweet time.
