You must securely attach any ground connection….using a clip to attach a wire just inserted in the water….yeah does nothing….you should have all the grounds bonded to one plate mounter to the the outside hull…..lighting will find a path to ground, one way or another….
On older sailboats they had a piece of chain from the chain plate into the water for lightning protection,so your idea can't be that bad….Thanks for sharing.
speaking of eyes, I notice that you don't use sunglasses. As an old sailor with one cataract surgery done, and another one scheduled, can I encourage you to think of future health problems.

When you hook a fish crash-tack the boat. It's not acceptable to leave a fish with a hook in, and after it has been dragged through the water at speed.

your wire trailing in the water will have some effect. If it will be enough (shrugs) lightening protection is more of an art than anything and yachts with professionally installed systems have lost electronics too. As you have found out, electronics stop working even without a lightening storm. So do the best you can and pray. Stick everything in the microwave…. unplug the microwave and put the plug in a box with a sign: "Empty the microwave before plugging in, Dummy!"
Hi Guys, i been thinking of your security of the boat while you leave the boat at anchor or in harbour. You can buy motion sensor cameras with built in alarms ( bloody noisy) that are connected to the internet via your mobile phone. They are not that expensive under €100 . So if the motion sensor goes off your phone will be alerted and you see what's going on. The pan and tilt outdoor cameras are a little more expensive. Or just leave Yoshi behind.
Well I started watching this latest clip and ended up as depressed and you both seem to be in your last couple of vids. Life is good out there for you both ….. for goodness sake appreciate it or stop and do something else. Hoping for a more positive attitude to everything around you including fellow boaters.
You have too remember your boat is loaded down because you are livaboards, these other boats passing you are empty and much lighter because they are not loaded with all the supplies

Mobo's are the biggest pain in my ass….most recent encounter with one saw us launched into orbit by its wake, result one kid who has grown up on boats now scared everytime he see's a wave. Be grumpy, be happy, its all good
