I'm in Australia and been trying to find boats similar to your boat in size and sail abilities exetra . How could I look up boats in your country is there a company who sells them or sites I could google?? I would appreciate any help you could give us and love what you are doing . You are gold .
Won't customs get curious what is inside the PVC tubes and force you to open some?
Well done on the installation of the engine! Looks so prestine and clean.
No more hitting your head on the plank, Ben!!
Keep uo the good work as each week more progress is made!
Plus, we all get to see it.
What happened to the old Volvo U rebuilt?
Great work, lots of heavy juggling, would have taken a longtime. Make sure you install a carbon monoxide warning sensor in the boat, too many people operate engines and burners in confined spaces and don’t wake up after.
Great Jazz music
Engine room and engine looks good. How are you getting air to the engine?
Did you forget to paint the engine. It’s got the undercoat showing
Question ; why are you ballasting the boat out on dry land ? Although its handy getting lots in there, you wont know what you need and where to place the ballast until youre in the water , trimming the boat up. Are you able to access everywhere ? It just seems a lot of effort on things that cant be determined. Also, are you not plaining down & faring the hull ? I would have thought that followed by priming would have been done ages ago ?
Yes indeed MP , the heart of Yaba is back . And a tricky job as well
BAD CHOICE… Those plastic pipes will split:
Especially because all the weight is lying on ridges of wood.
They will rock and move until they fail no matter how well you secure them.
Plus they are too high… The ballast should be lower; INSIDE the wooden compartments
in the bilge, which will prevent the ballast from moving.
Can you guys please one day discuss finances because this is not a budget job, this is a MASSIVE project and your guys aren't apparently doing any other work but the rebuild. The channel must help but dozens of craftsmen, the finest materials… This is costing many tens of thousands!
Small block wedges may help with securing the tubes of ballast. Looking great , So close,
Could you not pour something like sand around the PVC PIPES,1 to keep them in place & 2 to add more wait that could be removed if needed?
We look forward to seeing you at the show, we unfortunately will not do the YouTube both because we are only in town one day. Will you be there Thursday?
Where's the link for the insulation? Liked 👍
What no lock washers on your engine mount bolts
I am personally a little concerned with these "PVC pipes" sincerely. Yes, it is certainly a very cleaver idea, but… You should avoid "light" and "heath" reaching these pipes, because sunlight and heath changes their molecular strength. I suggest you to cover all these pipes with a liquid sealant. It can be naphtha, so all will stick together, for a safer SAILING YABA 😍
Have you guys thought about fabricating an oil pan for the bottom of your engine to keep your hull oil free ?
How do you want to realise the control of the rudder in the future? If I interpret the first videos correctly, ropes were originally guided to the front of the steering position via pulleys. It would also be possible to drive the rudder via a chain with an electric motor in the engine compartment. Then even remote control would be possible. You would then have to come up with something to be able to continue using the steering wheel even though it no longer has direct contact with the rudder. But the problem can be solved.
I wanted to interject one suggestion for adding a aquadrive to your driveline.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMrkrKREIpI as Tallyho has done.
Next time, fit a the bearer bolts loosely, then when all the threads are started, tighten them. 💜
Ceiling = deck head.
A bit of history for you. If you visit places like Swanage and Weymouth, in Dorset, England, you will see genuine cannon, muzzles sunk into the ground, used as markers along docks and streets. When ships took Portland stone, to London, for use in building, captured cannon (from the French etc) were used as ballast for the return journey. The Royal Navy captured thousands of them. 🤭😊😉😀
I never sail in my life, but I in joy watching sailing channels. I love your boat but how are you going to sail your boat from your cabin with no windows looking up at your sails? How can you see what the winds is doing to your sails? I suggest you add a large window in your Pilate house. So it will be ease to control your sails. Also get electrical mortars for your winch’s. Just my suggestion
Check your Messenger inbox I left a message for you
Just wondering what the hourly cost is for the workmen?
Also putting in all the ballast before the water ballance the forces is a worry. I've seen wooden boats taking in a lot of water in those instances.
Love your journey, but take care😃
Just been watching the last the lsat few episodes. What a Mammoth task. With you in spirit.
Its strange you want to go sailing , but your always delaying eighter this or that my husband used to say – Your stalling for Time there is so many things you guys haven`t touch yet that estimating the time Yaba will leave the docks is in 2023 .I understand that money is tight but this is getting anoying …
As a retired boat carpenter, my one comment about sound down, although it is extremely effective, it is a real pain to install, as there is the layer of foam then a layer o(thin) lead and then the final layer that people see when they look in the engine space, which is a very heavy layer of aluminum foil!
