Ne-am început călătoria către Annapolis, MD. După ce am părăsit Georgia, am călătorit la St. Catherine’s Sound Inlet. Din cauza direcției nefavorabile ale vântului am ales să nu ridicăm pânzele. Și de două ori nefericit motorul nu ar atinge turația maximă. Ne-am schimbat planurile de a merge la Sunbury Crab Restaurant și Marina, deoarece era întuneric și navigarea pe canalul natural ar fi sinuoasă și puțin adâncă. Ancorat și trezit la un spectacol frumos de păsări dimineața. Următoarea etapă a fost la un port sigur din Thunderbolt, GA, unde am pus un scafandru să verifice prop și să curățe fundul bărcii. If the exhaust is either grey or black its a sign that
the engine isnt getting enuf air or too much fuel.
Air will be from a clogged air-filter
Too much fuel can be a result of like you have found a fouled bottom but especially the prop.
With the DPA type injector pump you have, when the governor senses too much load as in not being able to get the rpm you require it will start pushing more fuel to the injectors and into the cylinders.
Only take a few barnacles on wven one prop bkade to knock engine rpm back. The best sign was that the engine almost achieved full rpm out of gear. Nit much wrong with the fuel injection side or the engine itself.

The compression of the cylinders when puting a load on the engine can cause a difference in rpm when in neutral as opposed to being in gear . Do a compression test !

We had the same issue with our C&C 44….would not get to correct RPM. It turned out to be the prop. When you put the motor in gear it would jump gears with in the prop causing higher pitch…more resistance would not allow the motor to get up to correct RPM. Had to have our 3 blade feathering prop rebuilt and it worked great. Oh, first check what the pitch on the prop is set at.. there is a way to change the pitch. Maybe that's the issue.

Absolutely a faulted prop and running gear. I noticed you were coming out of the rivers in Charleston where I have had my boat for the last 2 months. Just the other day I took it out and could not make more than 1000 rpm and 7 knots. A quick dive and it was official. The prop blades were now 2-3 inches thick. Boat cleaners in the area say it is not uncommon for fishing boats and such to have the bottom cleaned every 2 weeks. It is just terrible. I noticed something was wrong the second I put it in gear when it barely moved.
