closest point of approach! closest point of attack is what Adam does when he gets that look in his eye.
In regards to your opening passage. Fishing vessel often act in this way, when considering their intent its experience that allows you to ‘read between the lines’ when determining the intent of vessels.
More time out of the cruisers world and mixing with working mariners will help you build this experience!
Keep up the good work!
Good morning guys, I’m afraid your commentary suppressing the risk of piracy is a dangerous disservice to the safety of other cruisers. We had a very scary close call between Trinidad and Grenada two weeks ago today. Obviously it’s an area to be careful of.
Nice plans🏋🏻♀️🤟🏋🏻♀️
Closest Point of Approach, but great try!
after what happened to the wildlings sailing channel a few weeks back I was bracing myself, ok, I can breathe again. best of luck to you both.
Nice video
A couple of feet away??
when you are on a near collision course, change course.
Safe travels!!!!
Awesome video- you guys are amazing! Love the vids and the both of you!🎉🎉
👍
Safe travels….
I was raised in Annapolis, hope the hospitality was good to you. A few beers, wines and rum's around the city and Eastport. The boatshow is better for your and youtube's attendance. Don't get me wrong, the boat their are great, but you guys add personality. Jeff and Cam are great people and have created a great service during boatshow. Enjoy your travels and home, is it too erly to wish you a Merry Christmas, not on Hallmark. See you next season.
Well, have you seen the name of the Vice President of YSATT who says "you need not to be worried about safety and security"?? 07:56 It might as well have been said by Bonnie & Clyde, Billy the Kid or John Dillinger… But, no, you should trust a Jesse James 😊
12:09 You can certainly see the current ripping in this shot. Anyone who’s been on a boat before can tell how quick that current is moving just by looking at the surface of the water.
Very interesting video. Good work.
Happy holidays lovely people!
you're lucky to have such a bubbly and excited crewmate 🙂
God speed on your upcoming travels. Looking forward to your new adventures.
Watching your video this week we were taking notice of your rail mounted solar panels. We are planning to put some on our boat. What size are yours and anything else you can tell me?
We’ll be in the Bahamas in a year from now.
Best bit – being seriously excited 🙂 keep that energy coming!
You guys are the happiest best sailing show out there!!
Great to hear about your plans. Have fun and a safe trip home.
excellent plan. It will be nice to spend some time around people you love, being able to pop out and buy some fruit, and not really having to think about anything.
Good luck guys!
Awesome!!! Your coming right by me! Sadly its the NC Hatteras turn! LoL. But if you do the ditch you'll be just fine. I live inland on the Pamlico Sound. So cooL to been watching you all this time to know your going to be floating by!!! 👍🏻👍🏻😎😎😎
I love Trinidad, and am looking forward to your Trini videos. I'm not in love with click-bait titles though, please be a leader in helping to stop that behaviour, we'll watch anyway.
…exited one aboard, indeed! Have fun on the delivery run…..outstanding.
Just Say , No Habla Engles.
Sorry for complaining but being a non-native speaker of English I need to say I don't understand half of what you are saying as opposed to YT channels like Atticus or Delos where I can understand close to 100% of what they are telling their audience. Is it possible to speak more pronounced (Adam) and not in machine gun style (Kiara) ?
What a lovely couple.
Thank you I always enjoy your videos.
I wish you all the best in seeing your family in Australia.
The Oyster 53 has been my dream boat since I new about her existence. The only change would be for the Kraken 50, which I new about exactly by you two. I am looking forward to watching the episode(s) filmed on the Oyster. Fair winds for both of you.
Love your channel.
Great video as usual. I love how even when engaged in explaining something, you manage to frame the shot with the setting, the islands. Another level of care in filming. I hope you weren't going around in circles for multiple takes.
We only watch every episode from two sailing channels… yours and Kristina’s Travels! We met John and Kristina at the Annapolis Sailboat Show and now I find out that you and Adam are sailing on one of the boats we toured which is the Oyster! What a sensational boat! The owners are so lucky to have such prestigious sailors getting their girl home to safety. How was the trip? We will miss your episodes for the next few months.😢
Good plan, have fun!
You guys are so cute
Enjoy sailing ⛵️ sailboat video ! Huge cargo ship your looking at while sailing! 😘⛵️😀 Mike from Missouri
Cheers from Annapolis! Give us a wave as you go by!
I am excited to see you two do a different vessel and hear what you've got to say… especially Adam in the Admiralty!
…. laughing …. nothing like doing something completely different and fun … sounds like one hell of a good time and getting home no less …. thx for the share .. as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ….
Good on you. Merry Christmas
Another epic ep… plans sound amazing and I look forward to seeing what you think of the Oyster… they are built just up the road from my MiL’s house in Ipswich! Enjoy the trip and the onward one home… you will have a fab Christmas…. 😊
Relieved you aren't packing it in, time at home after 3 years is an excellent idea. Enjoy, relax look forward to resuming the journey.
Regarding the "CPA" and the dramatic vacillation in 'closest range'; I suggest focusing more on the 'bearing' once you've been alerted to the possibility of a close approach. The 'bearing' reading is more consistent and likely more usable to determine the elements of danger. As that bearing changes, it will indicate which general direction of drift exists between vessels. How swifty it changes will be a function of course, of speed (closure), heading and range, but it is something that one can get a good mental sense of, as opposed to the rapidly changing CPA range, which is useless and frankly, potentially unsafe as seeking an electronic answer draws one's attention into the device and therefore less time outside the cockpit. So, from an old guy who has run literally thousands of air-air intercepts, I offer two bits: one, learn how to analyze drift using the changes in bearing and two, 'one peep is worth a thousand sweeps' (meaning, getting an eyeball on what is happening is most times more valuable than 'bore-sighting' on the instruments.) It would seem that the manufacturers could easily fix this CPA issue by changing the CPA formula, but there is also great value in forcing oneself to analyze the drift and increasing real-world situational analysis that way (and forced head-out-of-the-cockpit). Just my two-cents. Love your videos and applaud your courage. Cheers.
I found your channel last Tuesday the 25th of October. Seven days and 190 videos I am caught up…. Well I still have a couple of interviews I want to watch and thanks to Adam I have to check out another channel about admiralty ( three guys talking about sailboats etc… We shall see ).
Great job on everything you have accomplished and I know you will accomplish a lot more… Thank you .
I have a couple of questions.
What tool's do you keep onboard and use the most?
Safety equipment on board like fire extinguisher, first aid, etc ?
Another great video, thank you.
♥️♥️🥰🥰
Need guns on board always
