Is that chain to big ? How about not letting the main sheet out , but use the traveler first , you have no kicker , vang , so letting the sheet out makes a baggy sail, that rubs on the rigging , ? The joy of cats
I think we both have the same pump. It works pretty well for anything as most fixtures don't use more than 2gpm. Also my pump will adjust the pressure a little, I think it has some kind of variable flow technology. Oh! Congrats on getting the block fixed, and I hope it holds!

Congrats on getting going guys! We've been following along. We spoke with Chris and Mary and got some of the updates too. So happy you found a good boat. It looks like you'll have plenty of projects to keep you busy! We just got our new (old) boat too and we are now motor-cruisers. We should be coming south towards Florida when you're heading up so maybe we can meet up somewhere along the way and see the new boat. Travel safe!

For what it's worth… you guys are way more entertaining now on the "new" boat !!! …. I love watching boat projects !!!
Great to see you sailing and enjoying the characteristics of a cat- non-rolly downwind sailing, flat sailing, more use/longer length of traveller, better spinnaker flying, the tramps, ability to cook/prepare food underway, slower turning unless you use F/R on engines. Certainly the 46' LWL was giving you good speed on the sail. As far as the windlass, as you may know, many vertical shaft windlasses have a problem with salt/fresh water getting past the seals, leaking into the gears and motor and ruining stuff- so check the shaft seals and replace if needed to have a long lasting windlass. Also see if you can rig up a forward relay for windlass and corded control so person on bows has control of windlass.

Wind speed is 13 and you're doing seven knots.. I'm no sailor, but that seems to be moving right along .. I think you're going to be a lot faster than you were in your last boat. With a lot more boat… and it really looks like the family is very happy.. I think you'll just have to face it , you made a great decision ..especially a lot better price.

that whole windlass had quite a bit of movement when you were cranking with the handle. hopefully just some bolts need some tightening

My 2 cents that Jabsco is a way better pump than the Seaflo. I had a raw water Seaflo last a few months before the pump, not motor, rusted and seized. I hope you have better luck with the freshwater one but you definitely cant complain about the price.

Just remember in a cat and testing, you need to go by the numbers. Between 15-18 knots you must put 1 reef in the main. 😊
